This has been a family favourite for more than 20 years. Lucky it's fast and very easy to make. Serve over mashed potatoes, wide egg noodles or rice so you don't waste any of the sauce. Please use good quality beef. In Australia, I use rump steak. The cooking time isn't long enough for cheap meat to become tender.
I think you will really enjoy this meatloaf, I know my family does! ---if you have any left overs just warm slightly and serve in crusty buns with BBQ sauce --- this is great served with mashed taters or fries, the topping recipe may be doubled if desired ----- *note* if you want to take this meatloaf to another level and make this company-worthy prepare the meatloaf with the stuffing mixture in the middle, this is only optional the meatloaf is still delicious by itself --- prep time does not include preparing the stuffing mixture.
This savory marinade compliments one of the most delicious cuts of beef. The flavor is a little sweet, a little zesty, with just the right amount of vino! It will have you singing, "Red, red wine...stay close to me."
This is from the Rival Crock pot recipe book. Boeuf Bourguignonne, also known as Beef Burgandy, is a french peasant stew. It was my absolute favorite recipe that my mom made while I was growing up. I'm a vegetarian now because I don't like meat and I can safely say that this might be the only beef recipe I've ever liked. SO GOOD AND TENDER AND FLAVORFUL!
*To make gravy thicker. Turn crock pot to high. Combine 3 T flour with 3 T melted butter & put into stew
**To make gravy thicker for oven cooking method, make a roue of the flour & butter & add to oven dish.
You will not believe the deeply satisfying flavour of this stew. This is our favourite wintry stew dish - comfort food to the max. The cooking time is more or less accurate, but it really depends on the cut of meat used - not everyone used chuck, and then, not all chuck is the same! You really have to poke and prod and taste to get it to where you want it...but that's what cooking is all about, isn't it? ;-)
There are other italian meatloaf recipies posted, but this one is a little different. I don't like meatloaf, but this is great. I got it from food network kitchens. My husbands co-workers rave about it.
A simple, yet delicious meal that you cannot get enough of. Ladies, if your man doesn't inhale this, then next time make him quiche. The beer gravy in the pictures is made with Guiness Extra Stout. That is why it looks so dark. You can make this with any style beer, its all good.
This is a real Jewish brisket recipe. It's easy, and even better the second day. If you refrigerate the sauce, the excess fat can be scraped off the top. My kids and husband demand this at least once a month!
i grew up eating this treat. nowadays skirt steak is very hard to find, but find it i did, this week. this is my mom's recipe, and it sure brought back memories. serve this with a baked potato and a green vegetable, spinach and asparagus work for me. if you don't have a broiler you can cook the steak in a saute pan for the same time.
7/21/06- i want to say that skirt steak is readily available if i ask the butcher. we've been grilling this dish, 4 minutes per side, and it works well too.
This is one of DH's faves. I have cooked this many times for company and get raves. It looks like a lot of work, reading the recipe, but it is easy easy. We don't like water chestnuts or bamboo shoots, so I omit them. I have had this recipe forever, but it looks like I must have found it on an A.1. bottle or ad. I tried it with other steak sauces, but we didn't like it. The recipe says 8 servings, but the 2 of us finish it off with no trouble.
