Green Tea will tighten pores, provide anti-aging benefits and is ideal for soothing troubled or sunburned skin. This comes from the Herb Companion Website and is added for the Comfort Cafe. This infusion should be refrigerated if not used within 3 days. Adendum: After reading up on camomile tea, I've added it to the infusion.

Chef #248023 inspired me to make this after I made her Recipe #256951. Shea butter is known for its cosmetic properties as a moisturizer and emollient. As well as an anti-inflammatory agent. Shea butter can be effective at treating the following conditions: fading scars, eczema, burns, rashes, acne, severely dry skin, blemishes, dark spots, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretchmarks, wrinkles and in lessening the irritation of psoriasis. Also provides natural UV sun protection but don't rely on it as a sunscreen because it filters out only little amounts of UV rays. Shea butter absorbs rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. It can be bought on line.

This is a light, tropical and luscious body butter that smells almost good enough to eat! I wouldn't however!!! I received this recipe in a monthy e-newsletter I receive from Nature's Gift. It is a wonderful small company in TN which specializes in essential oils and aromatherapy supplies. I love applying this butter right after I get out of the shower since it literally melts into your skin and leaves you soft and silky. It is wonderful in the winter but you may find it a little heavy in the warmer months. I remedy this situation by applying the butter sparingly after showering while my body is still damp... the water combines with the oils in the butter and helps emulsify it...right into your skin. I love the light, tropical scent from the coconut oil and cocoa butter... the essential oils are optional, but I think you will find them heavenly! I have a special bowl and beaters I use just for this recipe... just so I don't use them for anything else. Be sure to store this butter in a cool place since it will melt and turn into a soupy mess!

Drench your skin with this body moisturizer bar. Great for dry skin or combination skin. Rub on some after a bath. This will be a lovely gift for someone at Christmas time.

    Recipe #199461

This scent is so yummy! I have had to give up chocolate due to a sensitivity... so this is my fix! It's so much cheaper than what you can buy... and smells even better! I use sugar because of sensitive skin (salt burns for me) but you can also use salt if you like. Just a warning... this is a bit messy in the shower, be sure to rinse the shower well. I've never had it stain the tub.. but it's better safe than sorry! The measurements and servings are an estimate... use more or less cocoa or vanilla for the scent you like.

Escape into tranquillity and pamper yourself and give to friends that need to unwind. Epsom salts will soothe tired muscles, while gently softening the water for a luxurious bath experience. Glycerin a skin moisturizer can be found at health food stores, some drug stores, or major department stores depending on where you live. Its also available on the Internet. I used Epsom, salt but feel free to use Sea and or Kosher Salt. I made this for my DD's Bridal shower as favors. I upped the recipe to 20 pound of salts. Placed yellow and blue (wedding colors) salts in 50 wine glasses topping with plasic wrap which you can't see and then topped with satin trimmed toule held on with thank you ribbon. Optional: I also placed whole vanilla pods with some salt in a coffee grinder till fine. The aroma's are heavenly!

This is for those beauty divas who want ultra shiny luxurious hair that's full of highlights. It's for those who have dark brown or black hair.

    Recipe #107722

I think this is quite an old recipe, it's been used in my family for a long time. I like it because there are no chemicals, it's inexpensive and it smells good! This can be used as an air freshener or as a personal freshener on a hot day. Try spraying your poor hot feet after a hot day of shopping. I use it to spray on my hands after dishes or housework, the vinegar is a natural skin softener.

I buy a transparant or white liquid soap for this, it shows the honey color when made. You could also use a neutral bubble bath as a base. I now sell this at craft fairs and for the packaging I bought old fashioned glass milk bottles. If you plan to give this as a gift, save up small salad dressing bottles, that is what I used to use. My favorite fragrances for this are: patchouli with orange, jasmin, honey or lavender. The oil is good if you have a dry skin, you can half the amount or leave it out because it will reduce the bubbles, and don't forget to tie your hair up otherwise it gets greasy from the oil!

KIDS LOVE THESE!!! So much cheaper and easier than the kind you buy at the store.

Commercial deoderants' active ingredient is aluminum - which has been linkedy to alzheimer's. I haven't had a lot of luck with the natural aluminum free deoderants from the store - they don't seem to work well at all. Here's a recipe to make your own. The only thing you need is an empty container from regular deoderant. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This recipe is from http://www.littlehouseinthesuburbs.com/2009/03/quick-stick-deodorant.html

From BUST magazine. Vegan and free of chemicals like parabens, artificial color/fragance, sodium lauryl sulfate, and aluminum. It is not an antiperspirant so it won't stop you from sweating but it will stop you from smelling like BO, and will soothe sensitive skin. Store-bought deodorants/antiperspirants stain the underarms of my clothes. All-natural types like this one do not. All of the ingredients can be purchased from the health food store. Use any essential oils you like but lavender is a natural choice for its antibacterial properties. Lavender goes well with sweet orange and ylang-ylang.

This very rich balm is excellent for feet, but also works very well as a lip balm and for the cuticles. Perfect to give as a gift. The conversion to ounces is: 1 ounce = 28.375 g

"Shower people" don't know what they are missing with this little goodie!! A "kissing cousin" to the bath bomb, these truffles are basically melted cocoa butter mixed with other ingredients that has been solidified back into nice little shapes. These truffles were one of my biggest sellers when I had a toiletry business and are probably one of my absolute favorite "bath stuff". My customers would come back to me and say that they no longer had to use candles to scent their bathrooms, when they had these little truffles!!!! Detailed instructions are included with possible scent blends to choose from. Conversion of gram to ounce: 1 ounce = 28.4 g

Sometimes the easiest remedies are at home! Aloe Vera Gel is very healing to the skin

    Recipe #319579

Hand crafted lip balms are so superior to its commercial counterpart. My lip balms were one of the biggest sellers in my toiletry business....because they worked!!! These are absolutely yummy!!! Beeswax can be found in small pellets for easy handling....just weight out what you need. The oils and butters can be interchanged. This does make up alot, but the recipe can be cut down to make up the amount you need, -- or -- gather some friends together to share a batch -- or -- give these away as gifts. Detailed instructions are included. The computer does not recognize the metric system very well, so the proper measurement are in brackets. The conversion to ounces = 28.375 g to 1 ounce
