Bariatric Friendly Cookbook

I had a gastric bypass a few months ago. The immediate problem I encountered was that there was not alot of variety provided when it came to meals that I was allowed to eat. I also did not want to cook seperately for myself and my family. So I did some research and found or invented recipes that fit the nutritional guidelines provided by my doctor and nutritionist. This allowed me to have the type of foods, that I was craving and still not cheat on my diet. Keep in mind that the portion sizes in these recipes are normal sizes that my family would eat. My portions were usually half or smaller. The good news is that by putting my family on the high protein, low fat, low carb, and low calorie diet, their health and weight has improved with no additional effort than the change in diet. I hope that other bariatric surgery patients find these as helpful as I have. It will help make the lifestyle change that much simpler. God Bless

This was the most tender and tasty version of liver and onions I ever had. The broth and the dredged flour on the liver makes a very nice gravy. It is good served over rice or with mashed potatoes.

This sounds unusual, but I always loved putting boiled eggs in my tuna, so I just turned it inside out. Since there are no egg yolks, it is better for the cholesteral. It is also super high in protein. Did I also say, it is delicious.

The shrimp picks up such a delicious flavor from soaking in the marinade and being cooked in its own shell. These can also be done over a grill instead of frying. My family had fun peeling and eating these until they all were gone...... The calorie and fat content are not as high as the nutritional facts show because you discard most of the marinade, which contains most of the calories and fat.

I have tried many different hot sauces in my life, with different level of heat. My all time favorite is Marie Sharp's. Nothing can beat the combination of heat and flavor. My wife was born in Belize and she introduced me to Marie Sharp and she gave us a tour of her factory outside Dangriga, Belize. When we visit Belize we always bring a ton of her sauces back. However, it can be hard to find hear in the states at a reasonable price, so I use this recipe. It is close enough to hers to satisfy the craving. I like to add some papaya to change it up a little. I have even added a little whiskey to it before. Tasted great.
