This recipe is from Southern Living magazine and is not your ordinary banana bread. The texture and flavor are so rich and creamy. Your family will love this treat. I always use reduced fat cream cheese.

You'll never need another banana bread recipe ever again!

    Recipe #2886

I LOVE banana bread. So, I have made it for many years. I am always looking to get the flavor just perfect! I use "old" bananas. The upscale produce shop won't sell them, so I usually call and see if they have any. That way I can use them right away AND they sell them to me super cheap! I usually bake around 150 mini loaves to include in my Christmas Goodies Bags. I like my recipes to have measurements for items, sizes for pans, and baking directions. So you will find all of that in this recipe that I have finally decided I have "tweeked" it right down to d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s.

You will love this banana pecan bundt cake made easy with cake mix. Yummy!

    Recipe #61632

This is such a wonderful cake! Moist and a wonderful banana flavor that is perfectly coupled with the cream cheese frosting. Not too sweet, not overpowering and perfects with time. This makes a VERY impressive 3 layer cake! I used 100 proof Banana Liqueur. My three layers were done at about 25 minutes. Plan to make the cake one day in advance and store covered in refrigerator overnight for the best results. Enjoy!

Very good! My mom really enjoys this whenever I make it and I do too! From Essence magazine.

This is from the December 2001 edition of Better Homes & Gardens magazine. It looks awesome, and promises to be dense and moist.

This is one of (if not) the BEST banana cake I have ever tasted! I thought the oven temp of 275° sounded a little low, but this cake baked up (and rose) beautifully in my oven at this temp after pretty much exactly one hour. I do not know if the little "freezer trick" to this recipe is what ensured its moistness or not, but I did it, and it was exceptionally moist & delicious. Would be interesting to see if it still came out as great if this step was skipped. All I know is that I followed this recipe EXACTLY as stated (except that I had no buttermilk, so I subbed with a mix of lemon juice & milk) and I got exceptional results. So moist and yummy...a dense cake, similar in texture to a carrot cake... I personally would not call this frosted banana bread :o) Depending on the amount of frosting you like you can decide whether to half the recipe or not. I used the full recipe and had some leftover. I sprinkled on the chopped walnuts and threw this baby in the fridge and cut it the next day...TO DIE FOR! I really liked it slightly chilled, but great at room temp too! It got better each day it sat, I always make this cake at least the day before I need or want it. I was extremely pleased with this cake and will be making it over & over again!! So glad I came across this one!! (on another website). (* * Just to update the recipe, (based on some of the reviews), the baking time may vary based on individual ovens. It was RIGHT ON for my oven, but some others have stated it has taken 1 hour 10 minutes, 1 hour 20 minutes, and my sister just informed me that it took 1 hour 30 minutes in her oven!!!!!)

I've had this well-worm recipe for as long as I've been married. I often make it for potluck functions. The ladies love it, but the heavy texture is a real favorite with men.—Lee Deneau, Lansing, Michigan From The Best Of Country Cooking 2007

My mother used to make this banana bread for us often. I have fond memories of waking up in the morning to smelling mom's homemade banana bread baking in the oven on a cold rainy day...AHHHH!!! She would cut off a big slice and place it on a napkin and off to school I went with a WARM piece of mom's LOVING homemade Banana Bread! I seached here to see if anyone else had the same recipe and I noticed that my mom's recipe has one ingredient different from everyone elses and I think it is the secret ingredient why my mom's recipe is Simply the Best Above All the Rest Banana Bread! Here is the recipe In Loving Memory of My Mother who passed away May 31, 2009...Mom I Love you thanks for the fond memories!!!

    Recipe #389737

This is probably one of the best banana breads that I have made. Native to the Caribbean and Central America, bananas are one of America's favorite fruits. They are rich in potassium - one banana contains 450 mg of potassium, one-fifth of the adult daily requirement - and offer a fair share of magnesium (33 mg), too. In addition, bananas help to strengthen the stomach lining and are good for soothing indigestion. Most banana bread recipes are saturated with butter and sugar. This one uses a small amount of canola oil instead - which is much better for your heart - and honey, which of course means lots of flavor. Don't use regular whole-wheat flour. It is too heavy for this recipe. Look for whole-wheat pastry flour instead

My school recipe I am keeping on this site to not lose. After 30 years the ink is fading. I find this a basic simple banana recipe. Great flavor

This is my adopted recipe and have just made it last Saturday 10th September 2005. It is a light moist bread/cake with just a hint of cinnamon. I baked it in a ring tin which took 50mins to cook. Keep an eye on cooking time because using a different tin does make a difference. Cook too long and it will be a little drier. Also leave in tin for about 5 mins before turning out onto a rack to cool completely. I used this first as dessert while it was still warm. I put slices into dessert dishes and topped with custard and whipped cream. The remaining cake I used cold, sliced. You could also use the cold slices topped with a dollop of whipped cream for a special treat with a hot cup of coffee or tea, or serve slices lightly buttered, or just plain. Hope you enjoy it whichever way you choose to serve it. Thanks goes to the person who posted this recipe originally and I am happy to have adopted it. :)

When I make this, it doesn't make it to the table. I keep pinching off pieces and eating it until it's gone.
