    Baking With Natural Sweeteners

I loooove baking, but I hate using refined sugar or products such as Splenda. These recipes are sweetened with honey, maple syrup, or unrefined sugar such as sucanat or raw (demerara) sugar. Many of them are made with whole grains as well.

This is from the Horn of the Moon Cookbook. I hate to throw anything out, so when fruit gets over ripe, I make breads. This is really good for breakfast. Adding cinnamon and raisins to the batter would be good too. Make sure you mix everything together well.

Yes, I know there's a glut of apple cake recipes here already. I want mine. Mine has what I think most apple cakes lack - a TON of apples. I use 5 large apples, even if it's a bit more than 4 cups. There's a trick to getting the cake just chock-full of apples. Here it is.

Bananas are one of America's favorite fruits. They help to strengthen the stomach lining and are good for soothing indigestion. Most banana bread recipes are saturated with butter and sugar. This one uses a small amount of canola oil instead - which is much better for your heart - and honey, which of course means lots of flavor. Don't use regular whole-wheat flour. It is too heavy for this recipe. Look for whole-wheat pastry flour instead.

My cousin got this from a German site and sent it to me. This is really quick and easy, very tasty too. A hot dessert or side dish great on its own or with vanilla ice cream or as a side for a spicy curry dish. If you are dieting you can substitute apple or pear nectar for the whipping cream.

I was searching for something sugar-free to take to a bake sale, and came across a recipe similar to this online. This is my modified version of that recipe. These sold quickly at the bake sale! They have a granola-like appearance and are soft and chewy. A little cinnamon added in might be good, too.
