A recipe from the Coup de Pouce, I think it's from March or April. Tilapia and halibut can be used in this recipe.

This recipe was posted in our local newspaper this week. It looked so good, and I didn't see one like it in the database, so decided to share it.

A great side dish or a meal on its own. This is a Polish/Hungarian dish. Can use bacon but I cut back on that to make it meatless. Also can garnish with poppy seeds. Adding peas for color and nutrition. Bacon is a yummy addition for those that eat meat. Just brown drain most of the fat then add butter and oil and brown onions. Be sure to give the onions a nice brown color using a med high heat.

A dish from the old country. Not quite like the others already on Zaar. Adapted to modern times too w/ a few shortcuts. It still takes forever to cook, but the prep couldn't be simpler now. Grandma always says when you think you've cooked the veggies enough, cook them that much longer again. We often serve this at Jewish holiday meals and at Thanksgiving.

    Recipe #158954

I make this very often. It's one of the first recipes I made when I got married and I'm still making it. It's great for using up left over chicken and very easy to make. This is a favorite in our house!

A creamy stroganoff using "The Other White Meat". Marinating the pork for 1 hour up to 8 hours is optional, but recommended. Serve over buttered noodles or fluffy white rice. Cook time includes 1 hour marinating time.

    Recipe #200746

I found this recipe in a local paper, made this for dinner last night, served over white rice and was most impressed. Very quick & easy to make and so tasty!!! The recipe says to use full fillets, which I did, but I think that diced chicken would be better and will use that next time.

what a fantastic combination, mushrooms in a yummy stroganoff sauce flavored with a little brandy and mashed potatoes, dinner on the table in 30 mins. Update 24/02/12 Made and devoured, it really is a dish where you don't miss the meat..but could add some.

A jazzed up rissole recipe for lovers of tarragon & mushrooms. Recipe from Family Circle

No meat here...but not vegetarian (because of the beef boiullon cube and Worcestershire). Kind of an interesting version of cabbage and noodles.

    Recipe #282146

This Hungarian recipe comes from World Vegetarian Classics by Celia Brooks Brown. Posting this for ZWT 4. Looks like a vegetarian version of a stroganoff.

    Recipe #307576

Sounds like a yummy vodka cocktail.

This is a simple old Hungarian dish. It's easy to make and requires no special cooking skills. I use smoked paprika, but ordinary paprika powder was what was used. For the sour cream, I also like using crème fraîche. But no matter: taste, and adjust things to your taste. The paprika is the mild, sweet type and the dish is inoffensive in all ways! A pleasant dish which suits all tastes! I DO recommend using bone-in, skin-on chicken, because the taste is simple better. Best made a day in advance because the flavour improves on standing, but also suitable for tonight's meal! 14.2.09: I've added in the metric measurement and simplified the steps. If you use the right size tablespoon and cup, the sauce should be a perfect consistency, thick and creamy.

A quick and easy recipe from The Vegetarian Passport by Linda Woolven. Suitable for potlucks and picnics. Time to make does not include refrigeration time.

This is a wonderful chicken recipe. The chicken falls apart into the sauce once plated. Excellent with rice even better with my homemade rice pilaf. I have posted this recipe as well under Elaine's Rice Pilaf.

This is a very good Mediterranean style chicken dish that I love (lemon lover here). You just brown the chicken for a few mins and add the rest of the ingredients and place it in the oven while you go about making a salad (or whatever).

Goulash in the style of southern Hungary. Serve with buttered noodles, dumplings, or spaetzle if you like. This is one dish that shines as a leftover, since it gets better the longer it sits.
