    Asian Vinaigrette Salad Dressing
    Handle

This is simple to throw together, light and tangy. I often vary the ingredients, using honey or orange juice instead of sugar, adding wasabi powder -- whatever I'm in the mood for. The joy of cooking is being creative! If you wish to substitute the oil, use a bland vegetable oil, extra virgin olive oil or "light" olive oil. Regular olive oil is too strong for this recipe.

I found this recipe on FoodNetwork by Danny Boome, whom hosts their new show "Rescue Chef." Perfect balance of flavors. We have this at least once a week. It's good even without the shrimp. I double the sauce because our family likes it saucier. I also have all ingredients ready before I begin cooking.

    Won Ton Soup
    Handle

This is from the Diana Liu cookbook. To make the broth; 1 can chicken broth+2 cans water. Add 1 thumb-size piece of fresh ginger and 1 whole green onion. Remove ginger and onion before serving. The won tons are heavy with ginger flavor so use according to your taste. If fried won ton is preferred, deep fry the won ton in hot oil until brown and crisp. Drain and serve with sweet and sour sauce.

This recipe in no way should be credited to me. I found it off the internet years ago, and noticed this exact recipe wasn't on RecipeZaar yet... so here it is. =) This is the closest tasting recipe I've found to the Hot and Sour Soup that is served at P.F. Chang's. If you love that restaurant as much as I do, give this a shot. You won't be disappointed! (This approximately yields the "bowl" size from the restaurant.)

This is my hubby's recipe and tastes amazing! I must say though that the large amount of bacon was quite alarming when I first saw him make this, but our family enjoys this dish a lot. We try not to make it too frequently but it is a hard habit to break. Day old rice works best but fresh rice right out of our rice cooker has been successful many times. He was taught how to cook this style of fried rice while in Hawaii.

Simple Ham (Or Pork) Fried Rice W/Sesame Oil No Wok Needed
    Handle

This is NOT one of the many fried rice recipes that claim to taste just like your local Chinese restaurant. This is just a very tasty, very simple, one skillet fried rice that we have been making for years. The main differences from other recipes seem to be that we use sesame oil to fry the rice, and we do not add soy sauce while cooking. I'm also not going to tell you that you have to let the rice cool before frying. If you can, great, if not, it really doesn't make that big of a difference in this recipe. This is a one-skillet recipe, you do not need to put things in and take them out. It's so much easier this way. I am including pictures on how we scramble the egg in the same pan, I just love this trick! One last suggestion, have everything ready to go when you start, as it comes together very quickly once you start cooking. We always double the batch, my husband mans one skillet and I take the other. Please note, we have done our best to give accurate ingredient amounts, oil may need adjusted depending on your rice. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do.

Che Con Ong - Vietnamese Sweet Ginger Rice

This is a sticky, sweet rice, I got from my husband's family. It can be molded and then sliced to serve. It seems like a long process, but it's not that bad. I omit the peanuts because of my son's allergies. As commented by Elmotoo, you can add the syrup in stages until you get the desired consistency. (Thanks Elmo!)

I like this recipe because it is pretty easy and I have gotten good results everytime I use it. It is adapted from a couple of different recipes. (This makes almost 2 cups of seasoning, I put what I have left in a jar or bottle and refrigerate)

Kelp and/or kombu make great soup stock! Their abundant minerals and natural "MSG" impart richness to soup usually associated with meat. Serve as an appetizer or use as stock. You can find kelp and kombu at your local health food store. Adapted from "Sea Vegetable Celebration" by Shep Erhart and Leslie Cerier.
