This is our favorite way to eat hot dogs. Everybody has their favorite, and there are certainly many ways we enjoy dawgs...but this is DH and my favorite on a given evening! Rudy's BBQ sauce from Texas is our fav, we have it shipped by the case. MMMMM! Amounts are approximate - add to suit your tastes. These are rich and filling, if you eat two you may not need a side dish! :) The jalepeno or serrano is optional for the days we feel like a little spice!
Recipe is from my grandmother. It's all part of a family tradition. Every year on Thanksgiving, our entire extended family gets together at a state park and stay in cabins; usually in West Virginia, Kentucky, or Indiana. Instead of turkey on Thanksgiving day, we all have Cincinnati Chili. Although this recipe calls for ground beef, it can be made with ground turkey instead.
If you've ever had Skyline Chili or Goldstar from Cincinnati, this recipe is a little different. It has a kick behind it that Skyline and Goldstar don't have.
I discovered this recipe on Allrecipes.com where Jody Champion submitted them. We have been making these for a few years now and adore them. Good with potatoes, carrots, onions and a little butter that has been wrapped in foil and grilled until done.
It's taken me about 3 tries to get this right. This one is the savory version. I plan on making a sweet version as well. A couple of people have suggested using a pork tenderloin and rolling or wrapping it around the stuffing, I haven't tried it, you may ;)
I think this recipe is an absolute gem. Really, in all my years of cooking, I don't think I have ever made chops as delectable as these! Crispy-crunchy on the outside, meltingly tender and moist on the inside. The key, I think, is the salty milk marinade/brine, and making sure not to overcook them. Thanks to Gourmet Magazine for this one.
This is a fantastic easy meal that is a real winner each time. I make mine with lots of ground pepper for a slighty hotter sauce and the trick is to have a pan with a very tight lid I use a pan that is used for soup making.
