My Grandmother made this for us some 50 years ago. I have found it to be a great kid pleaser, even the fussy ones! It is affordable and simple to make. I like it better reheated for two minutes in the microwave and it freezes well.
I bought the cookbook that this recipe was in because of this recipe. It is a cross between spaghetti and lasagna and you don't have the mountain of left overs, like with lasagna. It's fast and easy and wonderful with garlic bread and a salad.
I got this recipe from another recipe site and although the base recipe was delicious I altered it according to my taste and added a few more spices. This is a great family meal that can be prepared in advance and frozen for a busy weeknight. It would also be a great dish to take to a potluck.
To me Fannie Farmer's recipe is the only "real" Macaroni & Cheese. It's from my 1946 edition of "Fannie Farmer's Boston Cooking School Cookbook". With time on it's side - this recipe is hands down the best for traditional, homemade baked macaroni & cheese - comfort food.
Please Note: If you use CHEAP CHEESE you will end up with a BLAND and FLAVORLESS DISH!
This is a quick and easy dish to make. I substitute turkey ham for the ham and tastes just as good and it's better for you. This dish freezes well. I make two and stick one in the freezer for another meal.
I have a child that refuses to eat vegetables, but she ate them this time!Enjoy!
From the Houston Chronicle, in response to a reader request. Very basic mac and cheese with mild flavor. When baked, the top gets nice and crunchy. Perfect for OAMC as directions for baking from frozen are included. Also very economical. I usually keep several foil pans of this in my freezer and throw one in the oven when roasting a chicken for a super easy meal. I like extra cheese on top.
This is one of the first recipes I really "mastered" when I was learning how to cook. My husband got to enjoy this recipe at least twice a month because it was one of the few dishes I knew how to make. Now, that I'm a much better cook, we still have this delicious dinner on our menu at least monthly. It is so easy to put together and very good. If you like your casserole's creamy, then this is one you've gotta try! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
This casserole is a favorite of everyone who has it. Every time I ask, "What would you like for dinner/your birthday/major event?" I am always surprised that the request is this simple casserole. My mother-in-law made this for my husband when he was a kid and it is still his favorite, and now my family requests it as well.
This is my version of a light lasagna recipe found in Self magazine. It can be frozen in individual size portions for later use. To further reduce fat, the ground turkey breast can be cooked separately and then rinsed with water and pressed dry before adding to the sauce.
This is an easy, yet very tasty spaghetti casserole, which reminds me of the spaghetti they used to serve us in elementary school. I loved their spaghetti! I normally only brought my lunch, but not on spaghetti day!
