I love to cook stews & this is a favourite. It has a lovely rich & tangy flavour. From 'Country Treasures' cookbook.

    Recipe #63853

This one came in a Dutch -language "health magazine" called ZIN IN MEER (really just a trumped-up advertising folder) that I received in the mail last week and it was so unusual that I had to try it out immediately. My family loved it. The name of the magazine translates loosely into "Liking/Desire for More", by the way, and I know I'm already craving more of this flavorful, and very attractive fall soup.

Nice substitute for pumpkin pie. Is very easy to make.

Haven't tried this one yet; posting for future use. Looks interesting to me.

    Recipe #75875

This is a delicious flavorful scone that is good at any time of year, not just in the fall and winter. Enjoy for breakfast, with tea or coffee or even for dessert. Makes a good gift, too. Just made them again for a friends birthday (1/09) and mmmmm forgot how I love them so much.

This is a Matthew Ford recipe from the Guardian's weekend magazine. Using barley makes a nice change from rice and it's good for you as well. If you want you can also add sautéed mushrooms or shredded meat. I often use butternut squash instead of pumpkin as it's more widely available here.

These fritters can be made either as a dessert and served with cinnamon-sugar, or as a side dish with venison or ham, and they go surprisingly well with fish! The sweetness-with-spice is typical of the cooking style of the then Malay slaves. It's a down-home comfort dish and ideal for left-over pumpkin.

The pecans and maple syrup add a very nice touch. This is a traditional Jewish Sephardic recipe.

Got this from a Carnation Evaporated Milk can. I have adapted slightly for my family's taste. One of my favorite Fall meals.

Another of my mom's pumpkin recipes for Charishma. According to my mom yellow pumpkin (the Halloween kind) is best for this recipe, but I don't see why you can't try other varieties. Then again, I'm always the rebel ;-)

This is so yummy on toast or English muffins instead if regular butter.

I think I sort of invented this one. It has become a family favourite.

Delicious and so easy to prepare. There have been questions about the accuracy of the carb count configured by Food.com. According to the Splenda help site there are 12 gm of carbs in 1/2 cup and 24 gm in 1 cup. My recipe calls for 3/4 cup which I figure to be 18gm for the entire pie. I submitted this information to Food.com and received this answer. "dojemi, At this time, the nutritional facts are limited to what is available from the USDA's database, which has only the data for Splenda packets and not Splenda Sugar Blend for Baking." If you choose to make this pie please take this information into consideration. Thank you. dojemi

There is enough frosting to frost the outside of a bundt or layer cake.

The combination of peanut butter and cream, makes this unusual soup very rich. It goes together in a snap for an elegant first course. A hollowed out fresh pumpkin shell makes a unique serving tureen

A bit more work than the usual dump cake, but oh so worth the effort. A wonderful addition to your Autumn dessert repertoire, won't dissapoint on any dessert table.

    Recipe #75103

I adapted this recipe from one that appeared in BBC Good Food magazine and loved the rich, earthy flavours it produced. The original inspiration for this dish apparently comes from Tunisia and it certainly reminded me of some African stews I have had. The changes I made were to use butternut squash instead of pumpkin, fresh ginger instead of ground and two cans of tomatoes instead of one. I also used my chili olive oil, which is stored in a jar with hot chillis to give it some bite, but if you don't have any spicy oils to use, you could add in a bit of chili powder, cayenne pepper or some harissa. This is a very adaptable recipe so have fun playing with it.
