Quick and flavorable, copied this from one of my moms magazines. Thumbs up recipe even for our picky 10 yr. old, his only complaint was he wanted a fork not a spoon packed in his lunchbox, or else he would have eaten it all!
There is an old Ghanian proverb that goes,"Good soup draws the chair to it". This is one of those kinds of soup. Dry red wine and thyme add sophisticated flavor to this Kansas City steakhouse favorite. Serve it with warm golden wheat and cheddar loaves.
Tasty little "envelopes" of meat and vegetables in chicken stock seasoned with fresh ginger root, sesame oil and soy sauce. You can use purchased won ton wrappers, or make your own. Use home prepared chicken stock, or canned. The time spent on preparing this recipe is up to you. The recipe came from a basic cookbook that explains the art of Chinese cuisine. It's definitely a recipe you can "make from scratch," or take some shortcuts and still have an excellent won ton soup. My preparation time listed is just a guesstimate. If you choose not to make your own won ton wrappers, find them in the produce or freezer department at your market.
I made this lamb soup with on hand ingredients, so feel free to substitute your favourites. This is a fairly thick soup so if a thinner more broth type is desired just add less, or omit the gravy powder. Great hearty soup perfect for cold winter nights.
I pulled down a recipe for Chicken Rice soup and then started adding stuff, so what I ended up with was very different then the original. I think it turned out very good and made a nice supper, great for a cool day.
Chicken soup is not only good for a cold, it may help prevent one! You can garnish with thin slices of ginger, garlic, lemon, or jalapeno pepper for extra immune support. This is from Delicious Living magazine. You can make the homemade stock or use chicken broth instead. Cook time does not include making stock.
This creamy, chunky, cheesy, smoky, spicy soup will warm up anyone on a cold night! Total Comfort food! "Will soothe any soul"!
I used roasted garlic but fresh will be great too. Take note I used no salt because I found the ham did it job. You're welcome to season as you wish.
I have reservations about this dish the first time I tasted it, but boy, was I wrong! Sweet potatoes & sausage are a great combination. Don't leave out the thyme, it is essential. Great comfort food on cold winter days. This is a Sugar Buster's recipe.
