This is how my mother made her chowder for years, and it was always greeted with pleasure and delight from anyone partaking in in. Even my Aunt who has always hated Corn Chowder loved this recipe. You can use fresh corn if you prefer, but may want to add it in with the potatoes to cook, and if you must use canned corn, watch the salt. Canned corn will change the flavor greatly.

Recipe #157471

A nice hearty hot soup, great for lunch on a chilly day. Unlike a lot of fish chowder recipes, it contains no potatoes, so it's a good choice if you're trying to go light on starchy carbohydrates. Use more chili powder if you like. May be served with crackers.

My friend Greg would invite the gang over for a bowl of this quick and delicious soup which I am told came from another friend who found it in a Campbell Recipe Book.

My Mother used to make Oyster Chowder every year for Christmas. I admit mine is not as good as hers was (she didn't use a recipe), but for those of you who like Oyster Chowder, this recipe if pretty good.

This is really good and really easy for the results you get. I got the original recipe from Bon Appetit, and changed it a have a fair amount of leeway to add other ingredients to this, like chicken. I add the creamed corn to thicken the soup. I can't remember the exact can size, 16 oz could be wrong, but it's the "regular soup can" size. Sorry. I don't really know why I add frozen corn, maybe because I always have some wasting away in my freezer. It was the first thing I made my DH when we were dating...we got married last year! Was it the soup? Enjoy!

This recipe is quick and easy. My boys like it because the shrimp makes them think they are eating "high-style" (their words). I like it because it can be on the table in less than 30 minutes.
