    I've had this recipe written in my personal recipe book for so long that I can't even begin to imagine it's source...but it's GOOD. This is a dense cake, so make sure to serve it with a light, complimentary side like fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

    This is a very flavourful, moist cake. I made it for my Mom's birthday since she doesn't like chocolate and the rest of the family isn't too keen on white cake. She loved it. The cake tastes even better after a day or two.

    This makes a great birthday cake! I first heard of a red velvet cake when I saw the movie "Steel Magnolias" and went on a hunt to find a great recipe for this famous cake. This recipe is my version of one I found originally in "Taste of Home Great Desserts." My version differs from tradition slightly in that I like to tint the frosting red as well, making it really, really red. For the brightest red color for your frosting, use paste food coloring (such as those sold in small jars by Wilton), but you will also need a bottle of liquid food coloring to dye the cake red as well. I also have made the frosting pink for little girls' birthday cakes and baby showers. Prep time does not include cooling time and allows for a little extra time for icing the cake.

    Every year I pick a cake to make for Valentine's Day, this one is from Taste Of Home and is beautiful. Cake is baked in two 9 inch heart shaped pans, I found them in regular pans and disposable tin pans. My cake took longer to cook about 30 minutes. Also this is a very sweet cake. I used two cans of cherry pie filling (not all of both) and for the topping on top I tried to just get the cherries with just a little of the juice.

    This recipe comes from Key Lime Cookin' by Joyce LaFray. Key limes are smaller and sweeter than regular limes. If you can't find key limes or key lime juice you may sub regular limes.

    This is a fabulous buttercream icing with Bailey's in it, passed on to me by one of my best friends in Texas, who got the recipe from her aunt (and kicked it up a notch with some Bailey's!!). Beware: this ain't your mama's frosting! This definetly isn't the frosting you buy at the store either! This recipe makes enough thick, yummy buttercream frosting for one cake.     This is just an incredible recipe that will have you swooning, as long as you don't think about the calories! You can make it easier by buying a Madeira cake or any pound-type cake. Or, if you're anal like me about preservatives and other stuff in store-bought things you can make your own. I used recipe number 85, Butter Madeira Cake. Make this up to 2 days ahead or freeze it, for easy party planning!

    This is a recipe from The Cake Mix Doctor. My family loves it and it's very easy to prepare. It's been requested for birthday cakes, but it's so easy, you can enjoy it anytime. There is no sweetener in the frosting, just the cookie crumbs. But if you wish, you can add about 1 tablespoon of sugar when you are whipping the cream for a little extra sweetness.
