    Vegetables

Vegetables is something I have to force myself to eat, so needless to say, I'm always looking for ways to dress them up a little. I have a 1/2-acre garden plot which, to my DH and MIL's chagrin, I barely use. I do plant a small garden every year, but I'm not a green thumb at all, so we pretty much just eat fresh during our short growing season and then that's the end of the fresh vegatables. Whatever vegetables don't do well in the freezer, just kind of go to waste. (I know, all you die-hard gardeners are cringing right now!!) I hope to someday be better at that kind of thing. At least I'm attempting it!

I like this recipe because its simple and quick and a good way to empty out those ketchup bottles! Once it is put together in the cooker you can forget about it until supper. I serve this with toast and a salad. The leftovers are frozen and added to homemade chili. For those on gluten free diets, please make sure all your ingredients are GF.

    Recipe #86381

A great way to use up all the corn from summer's crop, freeze into serving-size portions and reheat when needed :)

    Recipe #70334

Recipe number 2 for Vidalia onions. This recipe calls for Jumbo Vidalias but the zaar computer wants to call them large. Bad computer, lol.

    Recipe #122994

My family loves broccoli, but it seems most of my recipes call for cheese or a heavy sauce. I threw this together last night for a lighter dish that is still full of flavor. If you have fresh broccoli in a microwave safe bag, it makes this dish even quicker! A 12 oz. bag of broccoli microwaves in just 4 minutes.

    Recipe #131463

This is such a tasty and healthy snack, and so simple. Recipe courtesy of Cooking Light magazine, and a real "Keeper" in my family! Wonderful to dip in Ranch dressing too! The kids even ask for this as a snack!

    Recipe #137950

This spoon bread is delicious, a good way to use those zucchini out of the garden. For extra flavor or heat add 2 or 3 jalapeno peppers. Recipes comes from Betters Homes and Gardens.com. Spoon bread is a side dish, eaten with a spoon. It is called a bread because of the ingredients. Enjoy

    Recipe #99282

Much simpler then it looks this is a very tasty recipe I came up with for my M-I-L. Plus, you'll feel good about such a healthy yummy dish!!

    Recipe #187049

This is how I sauté mushrooms and onions to serve with grilled steak. I've been doing it this way for years and never really thought of it as a recipe until today when my husband mentioned that it was the best he'd ever had. If you have leftovers, make an omelet with them with smoked swiss cheese and serve with hot, steaming bowls of tomato soup with basil. Just trust me on that.

    Recipe #102524

This recipe comes from my family's background. I believe it started with my grandma who was from England.

    Recipe #138446

The ultimate decadent corn on the cob;. based on a recipe from Paula Deen, of course. :) The flavor the bacon gives the corn is outstanding! Prep time includes soaking.

    Recipe #116926

We absolutely love this, we tend to get bored with 'plain' corn on the cob after eating it all summer

Corn already seasoned so this is very easy to take for a picnic. No need to bring butter or salt. Just keep corn on ice till ready to cook because the sugar will turn to starch if it sits around. More reason to buy fresh as possible. Can be doubled or cut in half. Feel free to change the herbs.

I have had this at festivals and sold on the streets, it is SO good!

    Recipe #184254

I was surprised not to see this one on Zaar! Tyler Florence said, "Once you try this, you'll never have corn on the cob any other way." We agree wholeheartedly! The corn steams and cooks in it's own husk without any pre-soaking or anything. The corn's flavor is intensified right in the husk! After removal from the oven, just pull back the husk and use it for a handle. The silk comes off with the husk! Let me know if you like corn this way as much as we do!

    Recipe #177558

This is a recipe from Cooking Light that I have had for years. I have never tried it, but my intentions have been good! I have estimated the number of servings. If you try it, I hope you enjoy it!

    Recipe #152608

This is an old southern recipe.

    Recipe #177092

Quick and easy BBQ food. A mushroom lovers dream!

    Recipe #68337

I LOVE going to the Outback and ordering this side with my steak. I could eat these alone! This is a copycat recipe; one I have had saved but have yet to try. But if this recipe is a true copycat of what I have eaten at Outback, you will not be sorry!

    Recipe #36869

This tastes similar to a French Onion Soup!
