Posted for Zaar World Tour II, this traditional Chilean treat is from Eliana Parra's Aunt Rose and Sundays at Moosewood Restaurant. These empanadas may also be simply made using your favorite flavor of canned pie filling.
My sister's favourite cake. This one only took three tries to get everything right, but WOW.
A new family favourite that made a splash with its 2007 Christmas dessert table debut.
(Note: This is NOT a traditional recipe, this MY interpretation of a traditional recipe. Therefore, this recipe DOES NOT and WILL NOT ever correctly include "goats milk" because I don't like it, and I don't cook with it.)
These cookies are so named because it's what you'll be saying while eating these wonderful treats... Nom, Nom, Nom! Serve with a tall glass of cold milk. These keep in a covered container a long time, but no worries, they will go nom, nom, nom fast!
While I was visiting my friend in Arizona, she had me help her make Sopaipillas. I loved them! They're mexican, but sold in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and other states near Mexico. You can literally point to the mountains at the back of her house and say "There's Mexico!"
Mexican fried breads.
Golden fried puffs, usually served with butter or honey for dessert. You can also try them with cinnamon and sugar.
It is a delicious carmel spread from Brazil. I got this from a friend who was an exchange student there, it is the most addicting thing ever, watch out, this is NOT low in fat...quite the contrary :)but soooo worth it.
My family loves Flan, I usually bake it in a round cake pan, But you can use ramekins. This recipe is NOT a hard as it looks. For best results make Flan a day ahead to let the caramel form a slightly liquefied layer. Time does not include cooling time.
This mexican dessert is a not too sweet treat. The roll ups are a nice way to end a summer meal. For a treat, very lightly dust the roll ups with icing sugar. They are also perfect as a snack. By Mission Foods.
Using another of my
_and why did I buy this_ ingredients - Media Cream, this recipe was shamelessly borrowed from _Daisy Cooks_ as in Daisy Martinez. Media Crema is sold in cans and found in the ethnic aisle of your grocery. It contains 40 calories and 4 g fat per tablespoon. For comparison, per tablespoon, heavy whipping cream contains 50 calories and 5g fat per while half & half checks in at about 18 calories and 1.5 g of fat. Note: chilling time not included in total prep time.
