Tea Breads

I love tea breads. I love them buttered or spread with cream cheese. I love them with tea or salads or just anytime. I love to use them for gifts or just for myself. Try one or two from this list and see if you don't love tea breads, too!

My Grandmother used to make this and it was fantastic. She would wrap it up in waxed paper and then wrap it again in foil and then she would put it in a shoe box tied up with string and send them as gifts. She sent this to me when I was at sleep away camp! This dense, heavy cake it will last a while if well wrapped. It's great with cream cheese! Note: The original recipe said "1 glass ..." and I have substituted cup for glass in the recipe. Apparently my Grandmother's sisters made this recipe too. I am compiling a family cookbook and 2 of my cousins have sent this to me with their Grandmother's names attached to it. I am giving it their family name since the Grandmas/Aunts would all claim it was theirs! PS-I still have MY Grandma's yellowed handwritten copy.

This is soooo nummmmy!! for lemon lovers. Very good warm or cold. (have been making this for years and cannot remember where it came from, probably from my Mom.)

Mom makes this bread and it is so good. She got the recipe from Southern Living.

This bread also includes dates and pistachios, which is why I called it Mediterranean style. All the flavors are there and seem to compliment each other making a mild tasting bread.

This is a recipe that is one of my favorites because everyone LOVES this bread and if I give them some, they never forget it! You need bananas that are so ripe, they have black spots all over them. In fact, what I usually do is stick those bananas in the freezer whole until I have enough to make this bread. Then I thaw them in a bowl and rip the stem off and just squeeze out the insides for the recipe. It makes enough to share a loaf (or a few) with your neighbors, friends, co-workers, or you could just stow them away in the freezer for when you run out. It comes out very moist inside, with a crispy crust. DEEEEEEELICIOUS!

Do not let this banana bread's long name fool you! Very easy to make, and WONDERFUL bread is the result.

I used to make this for a Bread and Breakfast Inn in Highlands, N.C. This is a variation on my Sour Cream Banana Bread, which turned out to be a duplicate recipe here on Zaar. So, in loving memory of my dear banana bread, here is one of the variations! You will love this! You may use flavored yogurt to kick this up a notch! Try vanilla! This also makes a great gift!

You HAVE to try this!! What a great combination-how can you go wrong with peanut butter, chocolate, and bananas?? This recipe is from the Better Homes and Gardens Annual Recipes cook book (1998).

Sooooooooo MOIST!!!! My friend made this for me and it is as moist as banana or pumpkin bread. Reminds me of the slices of bread served at Starbucks.... I'm going to try other flavors soon! Enjoy...

So Easy to Make. This Zucchini Bread is fantastic. My Grandmother made it all the time for us when we were little. This is an easy recipe but has a great taste!

Very sweet bread interspersed with chunks of cinnamon sugar. Makes a good dessert bread and is really delicious with jams and jellies. Kids will love this because as they take bites they'll find "pockets" of semi-melted sugar chunks throughout the bread. Recipe does come with a warning, so read directions carefully. From Giant Book of Bread Machine Recipes.

From a Girl Scouts cookbook (Washington Rock Council, Westfield, NJ); thought I'd share a very unique banana bread. I had never heard of this combination before. Careful to note that seeds may affect people who have nut allergies so note if taking to a bake sale, etc.

To make this quick bread even quicker, we used the microwave to cook the potato and soften the butter for the streusel topping. Use an electric knife to get clean slices. A great lunch when paired with chicken salad.

A wonderful recipe using fresh strawberries from Netherhill Strawberry Farm in Australia. This recipe also yields a tried and true (and reviewed) great Blueberry & Cream Bread.
