These nuts are addictive!!! Serve as a delicious snack, super-easy appetizer (great on a Ritz cracker with whipped cream cheese), topping for salads (see my Waldorf Salad recipe #117914) or in candied sweet potatoes. And, they make the perfect hostess gift especially during the Holiday Season! I make a double batch before Thanksgiving and freeze in ziplock bags for use at Christmas and New Years. The kick is up to you, as they are really very mild as written (we think they are perfect this way). Recipe was given to me by my sister, originally from Bon Appetit.

This recipe, from Dole, makes a really great and really healthy snack. These chips are tasty on their own, or you can add them to granola or a snack mix.

    Recipe #194659

From the popular Best of Bridge cookbook series. Easy and tasty, with ingredients everyone is likely to have on hand.

Clipped from the coupon section, the Chex Party Mix has a few more ingredients than the traditional Chex Mix.

Source: 'Gourmets Old Vienna Cookbook' by Lillian Langseth-Christensen. This is an Austrian recipe posted for ZWT6. I am Guessing at the servings.

nstead of high-fat pralines, toffee, or brittle, give croquant (French for "crisp")--a cream- and butter-free combination of caramelized sugar and almonds. Package in a paper-lined confection box or pretty bowl with a note to crumble over ice cream, layer into parfaits, or simply eat like brittle. Be careful not to burn yourself when pouring the hot mixture onto the jelly roll pan. The color of the sugar mixture (rather than temperature) is the best cue for doneness. The darker the color, the more bitter the candy--aim for a golden honey color. If your pan is too dark to gauge the color of the caramel, very carefully lift a small amount of the mixture with a spoon and drop it onto a piece of white paper--the level of caramelization will be evident.

These are delicious treats on muffins etc. and for garnishes and decoration.

Because of the contrast between the tart cranberries and sugary coating, the flavor of this snack pops in your mouth. The berries are steeped in hot sugar syrup to tame their tangy bite. When entertaining, serve these in place of nuts. For gift-giving, package in parchment-lined tins. Present with a small bottle of the reserved cranberry cooking syrup for the recipient to use as a cocktail mixer. If you can't find superfine sugar, make your own by processing granulated sugar in a food processor for a minute

From "Good Eats," episode "Flat Is Beautiful: Going Crackers". You really need an aluminum-free double-acting baking powder for this, but if you can't find one, go with 1/2 t baking powder and 1 t cream of tartar.

Crunchy sweet version of the cereal mixes.

I have been making My Party Mix for a long time.I have taste-tested it on my daughters classmates at her birthday parties as well as at family gatherings. I make several popcorn tins full and never bring any back. This recipe was created because of an intolerance of worcestershire sauce by some family members. This recipe is the result.of my work.

We are loving these Lemon Kale Chips. I can't make enough of them --the boys scarf them down hot out of the oven. Yesterday, they ate 3 batches, yes you heard that right, 3 batches of kale chips, after school. Of course, like everything else I make, these are gluten free. http://www.elanaspantry.com/lemon-kale-chips/

This is a delectable lower fat version of the cocktail hour favorite.

These are a must over the holidays or at any time. I have made this recipe using a combo of almonds, walnuts and pecans, you can really just about use any kind of nut for this. The nuts are crunchy, sweet with just the perfect amount of ginger taste! I most always double the recipe to make of 8 cups of nuts, I find that 4 cups just go way too fast. If you don't plan on using the nuts right away you can store them in the freezer in a zip-lock freezer bag. If you want to just kick the flavor up a bit, then add in about 1/4 teaspoon cayenne (no more than 1/4 teaspoon!) These nuts are also great used in salads.

These are a favourite snack around here in the fall, and friends are always asking me to make them. I couldn't believe I couldn't find a recipe for them here. They're quick and easy, fairly healthy, and really take care of a sugar craving. I've always made them the same way, so if you find any good variations, let me know!
