Can I get that on the side?

I have a mental block for side dishes. These are dishes that I think I can handle cooking and would compliment the style of cooking my family enjoys. I don't think I have actually tried many of them but I have the best intentions!

This is something my grandma made at Christmas. I don't know where she originally got the recipe but the recipe card for it has her handwriting on it. I call them German Carrots because grandma's grandparents came over from Germany. My family mostly eats these at Christmas and we usually fight over who gets the little bit that's leftover. It's a really good barbecued carrot recipe.

I believe I got this off of the Internet, but don't know what website. This is a yummy side dish that could easily be made into a main entree by adding an extra layer of ground beef (browned) or left over chicken. It takes a little effort, but is worth it. I made this last year when I was trying to use up a 5 lb. bag of egg noodles. Do you have any idea how long a 5 lb. bag can last you? So glad I stumbled across this recipe! Hope you enjoy!

    Recipe #99116

This is mom's recipe for a quick all-in-one lunch idea: it is quickly whipped up, lasts several days in the fridge, is hearty/filling, nutritious, and versatile. This recipe can have many variations depending on what you prefer. The main idea is: one pasta noodle, the canned 3 bean salad, some sort of vinaigrette (or and combination of several), and any extra veggies you want in your salad.

    Recipe #108732

Makes a wonderful low-carb, meatless entree or can be used as a side dish for pasta, etc. Perfect for dieters and vegetarians alike.

Easy tasty side dish. I make this ahead and cook it just before serving. A nice change from potatoes.

    Recipe #10691

Great for potlucks. My family loves this.

    Recipe #35257

This is a dish my family and friends ask me to bring to potluck/cook-outs! NEVER any left to bring home! (my sister brings a bowl to take what MIGHT be left) Taste great hot out of the oven or "room temperature"

    Recipe #29767

Cooked cubed ham can be used in place of bacon if desired. Cooking time does not include boiling the pasta. This complete recipe may be doubled.

    Recipe #90490

Southern Living; I don't like heavily mayonnaised pasta salads, but 1/2 cup is a little dry for even my liking. I add a couple more tablespoons. Add as much as you like.

    Recipe #94365

This is a light, flavorful side dish that would be great with any meal! A friend brought it to a potluck and it was gone before anything else!

    Recipe #95626

You have to try this recipe! This is by far the best salad I have ever had. Even though some of the ingredients may sound like they dont belong together, they sure do taste great together. The 2 hours cooking time is letting the salaad set up in the fridge.

    Recipe #98286

I love fried mushrooms! I learned how to make these from a chef at a 5-star restaurant about a year ago. You can also use the batter to make fried onion rings. YUM!

So yummy and so easy. This is similar to sweet corn cake but cheaper. I bring this often to cook-outs in the summer, a big hit. (Note: frozen whole-kernel corn can be substituted for the canned.)

    Recipe #62617

I sometimes pair this with Roasted Herb Chicken.

    Recipe #83669

This is alittle something that was given to me by my boyfriends mother who got it from her daughter. I love it!

A sweet departure from the traditional salad. Great for picnics and bar-b-ques.

    Recipe #26058

A quick and easy recipe to prepare. Can be used as a side dish or salsa.

This was my grandmother's recipe, passed down from her mother. The cooked dressing is so fantastic that it is hard to save some for the apple salad once you taste it. It is similar to a lightly sweetened lemon curd. Scrumptious! Grapes or raisins can be added also.

    Recipe #102618

This is a family favorite! the raisins cook up plump and soft, and the lemon balances with the fruit's sweetness and best of all it's easy to make. This is a must served with ham!
