Not only is this great chicken but a good conversation piece for your company. I have included directions to cook the chicken in the oven or on a grill. There is also enough spice to cook an 8 pound chicken. This is what I normally fix. This will serve 6 easily.
This recipe is similar to a fruitcake but much lighter. The texture is more like that of a pound cake. My mom got it from a Philadelphia cream cheese box many years ago. She made it for my dad every Christmas. I inherited the recipe after she passed away,and now I make it for him. I am posting it here so I won't lose it.I hope some of you will enjoy this as much my dad.
One of my favourite winter soups belongs to the traditional family cuisine of my town. The literary source is Ada Boni's "La cucina di Roma" which I think has not been translated but I suppose her "Italian Regional Cooking" should include it as well. The real sources, though, are my mother and especially my grandmother, Carlotta, who was able to share the same memories of culinary simplicity that inspired Ada Boni.
This recipe came from a children's "rainy day fun" idea book. The theme of the whole day was to have a campout inside. Since you can't make regular s'mores, these are just as good, might even be less messy, and will be fun to make together.
