I only use Basmati rice and would like to try these recipes. They are all gluten free and halal.

An aromatic Persian spice blend which is good added to stews and pulses. This recipe is from " A Taste of Persia" by Najmieh Batmanglij. The author suggests adding the rose petals to the ground spices. After trying both ways, I prefer to whizz them in the spice grinder for a minute or two.

    Recipe #253004

I'm a big rice fan and this is one of my favorite ways to make it at home.

    Recipe #198705

This is a trial and error recipe that I perfected in order to get my boyfriend to stop eating minute rice and appreciate basmati, jasmine rice, etc. This one is for Basmati only though. **NOTE** As well, you can use either chicken broth or water. I prefer water, but my boyfriend likes it with the chicken broth. Use your preference! Also if you throw in pieces of broccoli (tiny pieces) or spinach instead it works just as well.

    Recipe #332771

My friend Cara and I needed a side dish one night and all I could think of was a curry dish I'd had at a local (Manhattan) Tai resturant. I could not find anything that was exactly right in the recipes already posted so I made this up. It was soooooooo good I now have to make it everytime we have dinner!!

    Recipe #168779

Forget sautéing the onions, adding that blasted bay leaf, or the boring chicken bouillon to your rice. All you need is a nice plain, simple rice to accompany all your stews and saucy or juicy foods. The peas in this recipe bring out the wonderful taste of rice.

    Recipe #188480

I got this recipe off the internet a while back, but I can't remember which website. It is my favorite way to serve rice. It's simple to prepare, very tasty and turns common rice into a tasty side dish to complement just about any main entree. I've been making it for a long time now, and I find that it goes really well with just about any main dish. But my all-time favorite is to serve it with baked chicken breasts served with a tangy lime sauce. UPDATE....based on feedback, I have worked on improving this recipe. Specifically, I increased the amount of water (from 3 1/2 cups to 4 cups, which I think produces a much fluffier rice. But if you have better luck using more or less liquid when cooking rice, please feel free to adjust the amount of water.

I created this dish to serve with the Moroccan Lemon Chicken. However, this is a great side dish for any meal.

A delicately flavoured sweet rice which is a perfect finale to any meal. It is SO easy to make and also very quick as it uses a microwave. As an added bonus it is also low fat!

This is easy, simple and wonderful. The original recipe which was printed in the Spring 2005 Penzeys catalog, calls for long-grain rice; however, I liked it much better with basmati. Also, the original recipe called for minced onion but I found it worked very well with dried onion. I indicated that the butter is optional, because I did not add it.

    Recipe #113983

I got the recipe from Canadian Living and it is a really nice rice with a subtle flavour. If you want more flavour you could add green salsa or hot peppers. The rice is meant to be served as a side to those dishes you don't want to have overpowered by the side. Quick and simple.

    Recipe #399656

Simple, easy, tasty way to improve the flavour and colour of a rice dish. This adds a little sweetness to a curry, and when you bite into the pomegranate seeds they just burst with flavour.

    Recipe #248880

This recipe is the product of the "I need to go to the grocery store, but don't have time" syndrome. It is a sweet, flavorful rice that is so easy to make. A quick side dish that goes well with meat, poultry, or fish. Even my "Picky Panel of Judges" (A.K.A. "Guinea Pigs") liked it!!

    Recipe #44361

Delicious rice dish......fresh lime juice and cilantro wake up your taste buds....eat alone or with your favorite mexican dishes.

This is a simple pilaf recipe but so much better than the boxed pilaf. I serve this with my Onion Sauce Chicken and always my guests rave about how good it is.

    Quick and colorful rice dish.

    Recipe #198709

I love the flavours of lemon and garlic combined in this healthy dish. This would be a good choice served with chicken or fish.

    Recipe #384908

Every time I serve this rice I hear someone at the table say "this is the best rice I have ever had." I hope you get the same reviews!

    Recipe #191120

This is a great side dish for a variety of meats. Toast the almonds to add another dimension of flavor. Especially good with Peachy Pork Chops. Could easily be made vegetarian by using vegetable broth.
