Every child and adult in Denmark have fond memories of sitting around the bonfire on June 23rd when we celebrate Midsummer Sankt Hans. Most often we will make 'snobroed' which basically means 'wound bread'. You find sticks (great task for kids) long enough that you can sit at a safe distance and bake the bread over the fire. The bread dough is wound around the stick and will bake in approx 15 min. The key and often competition is who can bake the best bread without it getting burn marks. Hint - the coal and not the flames works best. It takes patience, but is so much fun and the banter will be flying. I have arranged this for friends and our kids during camping trips and it is now a MUST tradition and a great fuss free way of cooking dinner/snacks. See the recipe below for addtional tips on how to cook with hot dogs, ham etc. If camping you can make the dough ahead of time and place in a big zip lock bag, break the dough off directly in the bag and with floured hands roll out and onto the sticks.
Such fun! Make your own volcano at home, the kids just love the eruption. My boys can never get enough. This isn't food, more of a science experiment & a great way to have fun with the family. One time we did this at a birthday party & let each child make their own. The dirt is optional!
This very simple yet very tasty and nutritious snack was introduced to me by a friend back in the early 1980s. I have lost track of this friend, but I think of her whenever I prepare this -- and I named it in her honor.

For our 5 year olds lunch box for either snack time or lunch for his first year at kindergarten that are reasonably healthy but will bring a smile to his face when he finds them. Kids tire of the same old sandwich, so I came up with this as a new and fun way to make sure he doesn't skip his sandwich! I was surprised at how much lunch meat and cheese I was able to get in the muffin! If you child likes lettuce you could stuff some of that inside as well. You could actually fill the hole with just about any type of sandwich filling. :)

After sampling one of these little gems at Starbucks, I just had to make some of my own! They are so delicious, can be customized with numerous different flavor combinations, and can be decorated for any occasion. They're a bit of work, but so worth it.
We are huge cookie fans and possible even bigger cookie dough fans! Realizing it probably wasn't all that great to be allowing my family to devour chunks of cookie dough at a time - I created a SAFE TO EAT raw cookie dough recipe. We keep this in the fridge and grab a hunk whenever we feel the urge - and we also freeze scoops of this stuff to snack on later. Perfect for mixing into ice cream.
While searching for homemade popsicles for my kids, I came across this recipe on the Kraft website. Please note that servings vary greatly depending on whether you use popsicle molds or you use 3 ounce paper cups. Have fun!!
