Lucile Proctor of Panguitch, Utah reports, "When my husband wants a treat, he requests these chewy cookies." From Taste Of Home 1996

    Recipe #396503

This is my own version kourambiethes (Greek almond shortbread cookies). When I created this recipe, I was looking for a way to create kourambiethes with less sugar and less cholesterol, which I achieved by using less sugar and no egg yolk. Other changes I made to the traditional kourambiethes recipe are: use of fragrant, dry roasted almonds made into a coarse flour (rather than simply chopped) and a liberal use of ouzo and rose water to play up some accent flavors. Enjoy -- please let me know how yours turn out!

    Recipe #162546

Basically a Greek butterball cookie recipe. These, with Melomakarona, are found in every Greek home during the Christmas Holidays. I go through phases. One year, or for a couple of years, these are my favourites, then Melomakarona are, and I keep switching back and forth. They're both wonderful! These keep wonderfully, long after Christmas is over, if any are left.

    Recipe #76513

These cookies keep well stored in cookie tins. I have not frozen them but I think they could be frozen. Instead of the date filling you could use a walnut filling:1 1/2 cups walnuts chopped, 1/4 cup caster sugar & 1 tsp cinnamon mixed together.

    Recipe #19430

A gorgeous spice cookies that won its category in the Ultimate Recipe Showdown on the Food Network. Courtesy Camilla Saulsbury, Nacogdoches, Texas. Cannot wait to try this one. ***Remember, this dough needs one hour for refrigeration.***

    Recipe #294106

from Chamomiletimes.com. The amazing thing about this sugar cookie is that it requires no chill time but is still easy to handle. Rose water is available in most stores catering to the middle eastern community.

    Recipe #80161

I can't remember a single holiday season without this typical German cookie recipe. My Mom and my mother-in-law bake these cookies. As a child we helped bake them, and the fun part for us kids was always to "style" the cookies. I prefer them with any icing or decoration.

    Recipe #146885

A very typical cookie in Germany for Christmas.

    Recipe #147934

Named after a classic Austrian dessert, these bars have a great raspberry filling and are so easy to make. They make a great addition to the cookie jar.

    Recipe #77493

Add these cookies to your holiday list, or just try them with afternoon tea.

    Recipe #64724

This recipe has been handed down from my great grandmother in Germany. We've had these every Christmas since I can remember and I now make them every year with my kids. They are so delicious.

    Recipe #104197

This is a traditional Swiss recipe for Mailanderli, delicate lemon-flavored butter cookies, that is popular in many cantons throughout Switzerland. It's a pretty standard recipe, and you'll find this very same recipe on many international cooking websites.

    Recipe #455522

A simple, easy and delicious German and Swiss Christmas cookie from Oetker Baking is Fun. The weight measurements are how the original recipe was written. If you have a kitchen scale, I find it to be the quickest and most accurate way of measuring ingredient. NOTE: 1 package of Oetker vanilla sugar is equivalent to 1 to 2 tsp vanilla extract.

The cookies are baked on a thin, edible wafer called oblaten. Oblaten are crisp, white wheat wafers that are available in specialty food shops. If you do not have a specialty food shop that handles oblaten, check with a local religious supply house. Wafers that are used for communion come in various sizes, including 2 3/4 and 3-inch diameters, and can be used for lebkuchen.

Marie was my sis-in-law’s mother. She loved to feed people! These were her favorite holiday cookies. Cook time does not include chill time.

    Recipe #198403

My grandmother used to tell me about these cookies all the time, when she gave the recipe to me, I knew I needed to save it here. The yield depends on cookie cutter sizes. I got about 24 cookies using small trees and stars as cutters. Time accounts for 3 batches in the oven.

    Recipe #270398

German Christmas Candy can be shaped into fruit shapes, or rolled thin and used as a topping on a specialty cake. Went to a 50th anniversary reception and an edible copy of the wedding picture was transposed onto marzipan/margipan!

Marzipan that can be "molded" into the little fruit, veggie shapes.

    Recipe #12104

Decadent little morsels of fruit-filled pastry, these cookies are a bit tedious but worth it.
