I haven't yet tried this cake, but found the recipe online. Please let me know how it turns out if you try it first!

Light green tea taste when you want something different for dessert. (Green tea ice cream isn't on our diet any more, so I make this sugar free/ fat free pudding instead.) If you want a more intense flavor, adjust the amount of green tea powder as desired.

I found this recipe on the Culinaryteas.com web site. I'm always on the look out for interesting recipes using green tea, so here it is! Note: the preparation time does not include the time to chill the dough.

I love the flavor of green tea powder in baked European-style sweets. Lately, I've been searching for a few recipes and found this one on the internet. Typically, I use a really good quality green tea (from Toraya), but even I find the green tea flavor to be too intense, so I use the lesser amount of green tea and increase the amount of powdered sugar. For less expensive grades of tea, I just use the greater amount of tea. You can purchase green tea powder at the Japanese grocers, but it will come in a variety of grades. The lower grades will use dried spinach to boost the color, but the tea flavor will not be as intense. The cookies are bright green (like the color of spring grass); they smell lovely, but have a bitter edge to them because of the green tea. It's typically an "adult" flavor, but my kids really like them with a bit of vanilla ice cream.

If you've read a newspaper or watched the news recently you've probably heard about all the health benefits of drinking Green Tea. It has tons of antioxidents and helps boost metabolism and helps you burn more fat and thus lose more weight. I enjoy drinking green tea and occasionally I enjoy a Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino, or a Jamba Juice Matcha Smoothie Blast. This recipe is one I developed to be able to enjoy these smoothies at home. I think it tastes great and is really good for your health too. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Please note that this recipe does require premium matcha green tea powder. This is not just regular green tea leaves pulverized. This premium powder can be purchased at Japanese grocers, or online. I happen to purchase mine on that popular online auction site I'm sure you're familiar with. I use the "Usucha" (or thin) matcha green tea powder that comes straight from Kyoto, Japan. Feel free to contact me if you need help finding this tea and I can show you where to purchase it directly. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

I have become completely addicted to Matcha Green Tea. If you are not familiar with Matcha, here is a link to a rather lengthy but fascinating description. It is from the seller I buy my matcha from. http://www.recipezaar.com/cookbook.php?bookid=125553 You can order Matcha by googling for sites, keyword "Matcha" or looking in the Japanese section of your grocery store. My personal favorite is Shizuoka, but you can use any quality Matcha Powder you like. I think you get better results with an Ice Cream maker, but alternative directions are given. Cooking time is dependent on your ice cream maker, or process used.
