I tested 8 different butter cookie recipes, looking for the "perfect" butter cookie. It had to be buttery, a little crumbly (like shortbread), and not too sweet. This is the winner. I think these are the Worlds Best Butter Cookie, courtesy of Chef Alice Medrich.
Can be served as a hot appetizer or side dish. Many reviewers have commented that they have found the herb amounts to be too much, so you may want to reduce them according to your own tastes. Originally submitted for the 2005 World Tour.
OMG these are so good!! My family absolutely loves them... how could anyone not like this with tender apples wrapped in a yummy dough and a sweet cinnamon-brown sugar sauce... top it off, warm from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or REAL whipped cream.... ooo yum...
These delicious little morsels are to die for! Creamy cheese and crab with lemon. Doesn't get much better than that!
Great as an appetizer for any social event, but don't wait until then. Make them for yourself and the family, and see for yourself how DELISH they are alone, or with any kind of dipping sauce you might like. I love them with my recipes for Recipe #270395 and Recipe #206003.
This is a luscious variation on the classic pecan pie,a richly satisfying cross between a pie and a cheesecake.Developed by Leon Soniat, a New Orleans native, cooking teacher and cookbook author. Originally from an October 1980 issue of Bon Apetit magazine that featured "Creole Cooking at the Source".
Elegant way to serve cheesecakes - makes 12 beautiful little mini cheesecakes! Delicious and low fat! You can't ask for anything more!! You can replace the ricotta by cottage cheese. If you only have large marshmallows, use scissors to cut into smaller pieces. Adapted from a R. Reisman recipe.
In Portland, Oregon there was a restaurant called the Hillvilla. It was most famous for it's pumpkin pie. When the baker Eddie Palaske died, this recipe was posted in the Oregonian in his obituary, he was so well known for it. The special seasoning for this pie is different, but makes the best pumpkin pie that I have ever eaten, and when I make it for holidays, it gets rave reviews! I have not used any other recipe for over 25 years! I am sure you will love it! The time listed to prepare does not include cooking time.
I got this recipe from a coworker at the salon I work at. I didn't think it would be so wonderful and addictive! It's very creamy and sweet, and a great mix of flavors. It will be the best thing you ever use grapes for (except maybe wine!).
These are a fun appetizer and a much easier way to serve brie to a group. They are very versatile so you might want to try a brown sugar and walnut filling instead of the cranberry, or whatever is your preference!
Once I tried these, I never bothered making 'traditional' sugar cookies again. A soft, flavorful cookie that is a MUST for me at Christmas. Note, the original recipe said they were cut-out cookies but I never was able to get them to work well that way. That is why I make the round ones as described.
These are the best macaroons I've ever made! Slightly crunchy on the outside; rich, moist and chewy on the inside! Just the way we like them! The original recipe was off the back of the bag of Mounds brand coconut, but the baking time was off a bit as well as the amount of coconut required to roll them in. So here's how I made them! ENJOY! They are really good!!! Hope you try them! :)
Adapted many years ago from a recipe in the Calgary Herald newspaper. It is a no fail recipe! Easy for the beginner cook and looks very elegant. Can be doubled and tripled with no problem! Cook time does not take into consideration overnight sitting time, so plan ahead!!
