Hey there, I chanced upon your Carrot Bread recipe and it looks good! Before I make it, I just need to clarify a couple of things.

Firstly, is this made in the Microwave or the oven? I ask because Step 6 reads
"Place the dish on an inverted saucer in the oven."
but Step 6 goes on to say
"Microwave at medium-high (70%) until a wooden toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean."
It's a tad confusing, though I'm thinking that this is perhaps a microwave recipe?

Second, have you ever made this without eggs? Normally, when a recipe calls for 1 egg, I usually skip it. This one calls for two eggs, and since I don't cook with eggs unless I just HAVE to, I would omit them in this recipe too. The bread probably won't rise as much, but besides that, would I have other problems with the recipe if I didn't add eggs?

Hi Anu! Yeah, this one's a microwave recipe. I always prefer making (and generally make) all my breads n cakes in my AMC cookware(the Dutch oven is my life saviour in the kitchen)icon_smile.gif
Abt the eggs, I have never tried this bread without the eggs, so I cant tell u precisely what wud happen if u omitted them, I suggest u use them.

But here's the thing - you get microwaves WITH an oven setting and without. My microwave does not have the oven setting, so I cannot use it as one. I can't bake cakes or cookies in my microwave... I would use my oven for that. Regular microwave heating is totally different from that of an oven, so, as of now, I'm still sort of confused! I don't think I should use my microwave for this one. But if I use my oven, what settings should I use?

    Anyone?

Anu, I'm guessing - try the recipe using ur oven. Since you 'bake' in it, I think I wud go by the oven.

Well, that's what I thought too. But what temperature do I bake at? And for how long?

At what temp. do u normally bake breads in your oven? Bake at the same, but be around, I am so sorry I cannot tell you exactly what temp. and for how long to bake bcoz I've made this in the AMC and in that it takes me 45 mins. usually on very slow flame. Not economical at all, but the bread is a hit always:)
Generally, the oven should take half the time the AMC takes, this is what I usually find. Try to be around every 5 mins. to chk if its done, bake at 180 C(all guesses, dont kill me, hehe, I'm just plunging into the oven for uicon_smile.gif) and bake for about 20 mins. Just a WILD WILD GUESS! Dont be angry with me if it doesnt work out:)

Hey, don't worry about that! I'll look at a few bread recipes that I've made before and use the settings accordingly. Hope I have the time to make this soon!
    Thanks for your help icon_smile.gif
