    What's the difference?

Beside the price! Sheesh! Raw almonds are almost three times the price of NP's.

almonds are nuts and non-pariels are like candy ornament. Non-pariels are used basically for decoration.

Haven't a clue where you are coming from with this question? Like Tarynne said Non-pariels are a candy decoration, in fact they are round flat chocolate discs with sprinkles on them. They have nothing to do with nuts. So where you get the almond connection I'm not sure?

Cuz that's how Whole Foods labels the two bins.

Raw almonds and Non-pariels. The non-pariels are obviously almonds, but WAY less expensive.

I'll check the spelling tonight, but I'm pretty sure that's it.

(and I know the candy stuff you're referring to)

Lisa is it possible they just reused the bins and never changed the name? I did a google search and even typed it in as "Non-pariels almonds". Google excepted the search parameters, but still seperated it into two different items. Not one listing for Non-pariels came up containing nuts, just those chocolate sprinkle things. I'm not doubting what the sign says, I just have never heard of almonds called that before and can't come up with any website that has either. Then again I've learned about things called by other names in different areas and countries, so anything is possible. Would love to hear what you or some other Zaar member finds out about them. The only other thing I could think of was the sugar coated pecans called Pralines.

    I'm not crazy!!

This doesn't answer my question, but here is a non-pariel reference on an almond website...

Okay - well curiosity got the better of me, and the little lady on the phone said that they are just "good eating almonds" and a bit softer than raw.

    Hm.

I guess I'll pay more, cuz the NP's don't toast very well - they don't get that nice crispy crunch.

Thanks for the update. Believe me Lisa I never thought you were crazy. Now I learned in some areas this is some kind of almond. That's one of the fun things about this site. You learn new things here everyday icon_smile.gif
