I just got an Imperial Pasta and Dough maker (model SPM-1) off of E-bay. The machine didn't come with instructions and I found that the company went out of business several years ago.
I have a bread machine and assumed that making pasta would be similar, but I was horribly wrong...
There is only an On/Off button and a knob that opens a hole in the bottom to "extrude" the dough. I mixed up the dough, but I couldn't get the stuff to come out!
Does anyone have this machine that could help me with the directions? Or, does anyone know of someplace I could purchase the manual?
Please help... I'm going into pasta withdrawls...

I used to have one of those electric pasta machines and I recall that you added only the dry ingredients to the machine. Then you turn it on, but not on extrude setting - just the mixer goes - and you slowly pour ni the water as it mixes.
Once it forms a ball, you switch something so that it will now extrude and be ready to catch the pasta as it comes out the die.

I have a Creative model X500 Pasta Express. I have the directions if it would help. The on/off switch also has a setting for mix/extrude. I'd be happy to copy it and mail it to you if you'd like.

Thank you both for your replies.
I double checked the machine for any other switch or knob, but there is only an On/Off button and an extrude knob that opens a door in the bottom. The mixer in the middle doesn't come out, so I don't think that I'm missing an extra part that pushes out the dough.
I would be interested in the directions for the Pasta Express though. Even though my machine just spins like a machine possessed, the directions may help me get it under control.
Thanks!

The Ron Popiel Pasta and Sausage Machine is one
of the best units that I ever bought.
I also have the Italian Stainless Steel hand pasta machine
does a good job, but takes so long.

My switch is in the middle for off, then slide it back to mix and then forward, to the middle and forward, once more, to extrude.

I just bought one of those machines as GoodWill for 7 bucks. It doesn't have the video but it does have the instruction booklet.
I can send you xerox copies of the pages if you like.
I think it is a hard thing to operate. I don't anticipate it being easy. Maybe we could help each other out.

Hi Suzannah:
I would love to advise you on how to use your Pasta machine, however, I have not used mine as of yet.
Good luck with your own machine and keep us posted so we can learn from you.

Hello Susannah;
I have no information regarding the Pasta Express X500.
However, as I mentioned earlier, the Ron Popeil Pasta &
Sausage Machine is in my opinion, a great machine. I bought
it in 1997 and I am extremely pleased with the ease of making
pasta. I have not tried making sausages yet.
Here is a website to look at:

Good luck,

Just used that link and got the home page. No pasta maker found.
Plug in search for pasta maker - nothing found.
Next tried the site map. Found pasta maker listed. Clicked on it and was brought to home page of site - no pasta maker there.
Copied it, and plugged it into the search blank. What came up?
"Product Search
Please correct the following input errors
- No match found for"
BUT, there is a manual on line (and I think to be sent for) at this site: http://www.ronco.com/rco_manuals5.aspx
However, I have found a new site for gadgets and goodies for cooking, baking, canning, cake decorating, candy making, kitchen tools and gadgets, pans, books, and DVDs.
