I have a friend who wants to host an Iron Chef Get Together. I am not sure of the facilities available. Any experinces out there? What kind of facilities and equipment were utilized? How was the game set up?

I've seen this done with burgers on a grill. Different people seasoned their hamburger meat with different condiments, herbs, and spices. I'm sure you could do this any number of ways, but this one sounded neat, and convenient...I mean, it kind of takes the fun out of it if it seems like work, in my opinion.

I would assume the host would provide the "featured item", and you could ask guests to bring a few different things that might accentuate that. You would also have to decide how many courses you wanted served, and provide items to make that work, as well as some items that would allow for some very, shall we say, interesting concotions (no crabby crappy banana soup though--as mentioned on a different thread--omg Im so teasing)...Maybe pick the featured item, and come back to get ideas from us...then divy up a list of ingreadients and draw them from a hat to see who brings what...

Sounds like a blast! I hope you have a great time with it! Also, dont forget to post how you do end up doing it!

I've heard of it being done with latkes. Everybody brings their own ingredients but cooks at the designated site.

    I like what Twitterpated mentioned.
Have the host provide the main ingredient, and let people know in advance, and they can bring their extra ingredients over and prepare them there, or prepare them in advance and bring the finished dish to the party.
The ingredient could be one that would accomodate all courses, such as main dish, soups, salads, appetizers and desserts. One obvious ingredient that would do this is eggs. There are many others.
Good luck with the Iron Chef idea! icon_smile.gif
