I have to brag on my garden. Rosemary, thyme and oregano made it through the winter and look fantastic. My basil is about 1 in high, not long till I will be putting it on everything. Lettuce about 5 inches high and the tomatoes and peppers go in as soon as it can go 2 or 3 days without raining around here. I LOVE SPRING and my garden. I am so glad I started one a few years back. It is alot of work but oh soooo worth it.

Sounds like you are well on your way to lots of fresh herbs & veggies..way to go. And yes is worth all the work.
A very tired but contented feeling when you start to harvest your own!

You BRAG, girl!! There is *nothing* like the taste of your own. And the price is always right! We are a tad behind you up here (SE WI - zone 5) so won't put in veggies for about a month yet. It has been unseasonably warm this week (but we aren't fooled, are we Barb?!). This could change in a flat second!
Keep up the good work Riff!!

Riffraff, is it possible to grow fresh herbs inside and if so which do the best. I have a big back yard but it is mostly pool & deck so there isn't much space for a garden. Any suggestions? Thanks

Cher, I grow my basil in a large terra cotta container on the patio. It seems to deter the ants from eating it. It is the only herb that I have that I have to re-plant every year. The oregano, rosemary and thyme have come back every year so far. The farmers market near me has rosemary in a simalar way. It looks like a shrub in a pot. Very nice. I plant basil seeds but I bought the others in the plant form. Have never tried top grow them from seed. I also used really good potting soil and fertilize several times a year. Let me know if I left anything out.

Cher, I just bumped a thread we had a bit back--lots of info Di posted on herbs---it's Herbs for Rise--take a look & see if that helps--most herbs can be pot dwellers quite easily. If you have questions someone is always willing to help out.
