According to the gardenweb, this vine is Polygonum Aubertii. Reading thru the posts there, one person said she planted this vine next to her deck where they like to picnic, and the vine drew about a million houseflies. Has this happened to you, Bergy? We get enough houseflies in August and I really don't want to attract any more!

No Kelly, no problems with fies or any other insects. Yhe bees like it but it does not seem to attract wasps. It may differ in different climes socheck with your local nurdery. By the way this is Bergy, I'm at Pioneer today

Thanks, Bergy the Pioneer!! I think I am going to try one of these - I've got plenty of space for it. Hope I can find a plant at a local nursery. I saw them for sale in a catalog ($7.49 each) but would rather buy local if at all possible. I'll let you know if I have success with it. (Won't be able to plant here for another 6 weeks or so.)
