    problem with shopping list

I tried using the Shopping List feature for the first time today, and I can't seem to get items I check off my list!
First I checked items that I already have at home, and clicked the "Update list" button. Those items then appeared dimmed and checked on the new page that loaded. Then I clicked the "Remove checked" button, but the page loaded with the original complete list, without any items being dimmed!
Am I doing something wrong? I tried it again, checking items first, and then directly clicking "Remove checked", but that didn't work either.

The first time that I used the shopping list, I thought that they would go away too, or at least not print. That's not how it works, they just do exactly what you said. I keep hoping that they will add a feature where you can combine the same ingredient into one line.

Believe it or not, it's working as it's supposed to work. "Remove checked" removes the checked recipes (and their ingredients) from the shopping list. Checking an item in the shopping list only dims the item. We understand that you would like to remove the item completely, and we are working on that.

Mysterygirl, we do combine the same ingredient into one line. If we don't, it's because the ingredient isn't exactly the same (low-fat cream cheese and cream cheese are different items, though appear the same) or because the measurements are of a weight type or a liquid type and we can't combine them. For example, "1 cup flour" and "1 gram flour" can't be combined because we don't know how many cups 1 gram of flour is and, vice versa, we don't know how much 1 cup of flour weighs. Some day we will know this and combine them this way too.

Ah ok, thanks for clarifying that.

Any chance you'll make the necessary changes so that the dimmed items would go away altogether, in the near future.... ? icon_smile.gif

We do things by how much they're requested, and given that it's such a big request, it will come sooner rather than later. But no promises on when. icon_smile.gif

I was coming to the board to post the exact same comment as Anu (I also used the shopping list for the first time today - in preparation for Zaar day!), so count me as another vote for getting this done. I also saw somewhere that people had asked for a way to add other items to the list that aren't in a particular recipe....I'll vote for that, too! Thanks!!

Making it possible to do one of these makes it possible to do both. And both are frequent requests.

    Cheers!
