Hi guys, I am making Awesome Homemade Crusty Bread (Bread Machine) and the recipe calls for shortening.
I don't have shortening. I do have lard so can I substitute that or should I go with butter instead?
    Please and thank you icon_smile.gif

I use butter in most breads, but I do have a couple that call for lard, and that makes a very nice texture. Either will work, butter adds its own wonderful flavor, of course.

    Thanks duonyte!
I'll go with butter and save the lard for a different recipe another day. icon_cool.gif
