    Mirj's easy chopped liver

    This is Mirj's Mirj's Heart-Attack-On-A-Plate Chopped Chicken Liver, and I plan to use this tonight, warmed up, as our meaty main (not the way Mirj intended, as this is usually an appetizer!) Sorry about the harsh light at the back in #1 -- didn't pick it up through the camera.

    Sometimes you need something heart-stopping like chopped liver to nourish the spirit! If I get myself organized, I am going to do something similar tonight for myself with refried black beans (traditionally made with lard) and goat cheese.

    These are terrific, Zurie, Chopped liver is difficult to photograph as its color is, well, blah - great use of contrasting colors to liven it all up.

    Thanks, duonyte -- yes, liver paté/chopped liver is not easy to photograph because it is dull beige!! icon_lol.gif And throughout the year I have problems with natural light. Through the windows off the sea it can be so harsh, but deeper in -- as in the kitchen with its dark granite tops -- it's too dark! So getting it right is a problem for me!

    Steve -- no, I divided the chopped liver up into my 2 little Le Creuset dishes for the sake of the photograph. Neither husband nor I can eat a full one! It's rich, and I made other side dishes as well. I could not figure out how to photograph the beige stuff at all unless I did this!! icon_lol.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

    Zurie both shots are great for different reasons in the first one I love the egg rising up and the angle. Then in the second shot I like all the colors and the light.

    Enjoy your dinner it looks and sounds like a real treat.

    OMG! I LOVE chopped liver!

    Do u use beef or chicken?

    I think chix taste too metallicky, so I stick w/calves, just like mom. Not more grinder attached to the counter icon_smile.gif and no wooden chopping bowl, but I use my food processor carefully to make this once every few years.. it's Sooooooooooooooooooooo GOOD!

    Guess you have to be Jewish to 'get it.' icon_smile.gif
