I just planted some seeds for cabbage and brussels sprouts. I read online they can be seeded directly into the garden. Does anyone have any more suggestions on things to plant now? How about late pumpkins?

You can still plant spinach, broccoli, Swiss chard, and any cold weather crop. I live in upstate ny so winters can come as early as October. DH and I just planted another row of bean seeds so I can freeze for winter cooking.

Depending where you live in midwest would determine plantings.

Here is a good site that may help

Thanks, I definitely need to plant some beans for canning. We've finally gotten rain, so my garden is starting to take off. I hope my cukes do well so I can make hamburger dills.
