I am not looking for a recipe for the salad. I am needing ideas for something to go with it.
I am bringing refreshments to a meeting tonight. Since I am doing the WW points plus program I am bringing a watermelon and fruit salad, http://www.food.com/recipe/fresh-watermelon-and-fruit-salad-95105.

My question is....what should I serve with it? A sugar cookie? A small chocolate bar? Peanuts?

Any help would be appreciated. I am new to the fresh fruit and veggie scene. Have been eating like a country girl for nearly 55 years. It was time to get healthy.

    Thanks.

The link would not work icon_confused.gif Fresh Watermelon and Fruit Salad

IMO you don't think you need to bring anything else unless you are suppling all the refreshments.
Nuts are always a nice touch if you feel the need to bring along something else.

CONGRATS on making the decision to get healthy. I love the WW program. I've maintained for over 12 years. icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, I am supplying all the refreshments. Normally we have cake, pie, bars or something heavy. I am setting out to change it to something lighter. By doing this maybe people will realize it is okay to lighten it up for 8:00 at night.

That is awesome that you have maintained for that long. I am down 42 pounds out of 100. It helps that my husband is doing it with me. I have had a bad week. Stopped tracking, thinking that I could do it without. I don't think that is going to be the case. icon_redface.gif
Got any good hints or tips?

How about some feta cheese instead or along with the nuts? Some iced tea and mint is also a great refreshing drink and no calories. Making a watermelon, feta and mint salad today for dinner salad as opposed to a green salad.

Another plate might just be veggies and a yogurt dip. Just had that last week at a friends and we all LOVED IT!

Chef1MOM~Connie suggested cheese and I think that is a great choice. Maybe something to light to drink.

Here is this other suggestion for you:
I like to serve fruit salads with a scoop of a good dip, so here are some good recipes to consider:

    Fruit Dip - Weight Watchers
Summer Fruit Dip - low fat recipe
Fresh Fruit Dip - low fat recipe
Oh-so-creamy FRUIT dip LOW fat YUMMY
Lemon-Lime Yogurt Fruit Dip - you can make it with low fat ingredients

Or why not?, it can be paired with any of these delicious and refreshing summer drinks: icon_biggrin.gif icon_wink.gif

Lots of times we have our stitching groups and food is always served. I noticed that fruit salad (such as the one you mentioned) is always welcome, but a dish of nuts goes well with it and a small dish of plain cookies. I usually put out a dish of crackers and cheese too -- and that is also usually welcome and complements the fruit.

I think this would round out the menu perfectly.

The thing to keep in mind, when meetings are being held in the evening, most people will have dinner or eat light before they arrive.
Keeping it light, is all that is necessary.
