My Coffeecake Muffin from Dunkin Donuts

    Hi All -

Maybe you can help me. I love these coffeecake muffins from Dunkin Donuts. Sweet and cake-like with a heavy crumb topping. It looks like there are tiny cinnamon chips (like choc chips) in the batter.

I have tried making muffins at home and they are never as good as the Dunkin Donuts muffin. They are usually too dense and often taste like baking powder. I end up adding tons of butter in order to swallow them.

Can you recommend a yummy, cake-like muffin recipe? I know the calories are outrageous. I would just like to, for once, make muffins at home that taste good!

    Thanks!

I've never had a Dunkin Donuts coffeecake muffin, so I don't know if any of these suggestions/recipes will come close.

Since you are looking for a "cakey muffin," I would start with a good crumb cake recipe (New York Crumb Cake, New Jersey Crumb Cake), add a few mini cinnamon chips to the cake batter and bake it in muffin tins.

Perhaps you could adapt one of these recipes...

    Cinnamon Streusel Muffins
    Mini Pecan Crumb Cakes
    Individual Coffee Cakes
    Grandma Waldal's Crumb Cake Cupcakes
    Sour Cream Pecan-Streusel Muffins
    Cinnamon Streusel Apple Cider Muffins
Ann's Velvet Crumb Cake (bake in a muffin/cupcake pan)
    Starbuck's Streusel-crumb Coffee Cake - Copycat (bake in a muffin/cupcake pan)
Starbucks Streusel Crumb Coffee Cake (bake in a muffin/cupcake pan)

I found this recipe that I want to try.

    Coffee Cake Marvel

    1 pkg. yellow cake mix
    ¾ c. oil
    1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding
    ¾ c. water
    4 eggs
    1 t. vanilla
    1 t. imitation butter flavoring

Mix first four ingredients, then add eggs, one at a time. Beat 6 minutes on high speed. During last few minutes add flavorings. In a well-greased and floured pan, alternate layers of cake batter and sugar mixture. Bake in a Bundt pan 40-50 minutes at 350°. Let stand for 8 minutes then remove and glaze when warm.

    Glaze:
    1 c. powdered sugar
    1 T. milk
    ½ t. vanilla
    ½ t. butter flavoring[/recipe]
