Hi Connie! The Canadian Girls in the Niagara/Burlington/Toronto area are planning to get together for lunch on the 20th of Sept. So far, I think the date is all that has been agreed upon. Everyone has disappeared but I'm sure they will be back to check in soon. K9 is away for a few days for a family thing, but I'm sure she'll check in soon. It's good to see you posting, hope you are doing well!

    Hi mum icon_biggrin.gif

Glad to get back in here. Like everyone else been getting error messages, posts are not posting, and reviews for the Aus/NZ Swap are not showing up these last couple weeks. Even trying to get to a member page is difficult. I know they are working on this but OY VEY.

So the 20th is scheduled but we are not sure where or time frame.

Ok I will see if I can make it. Doctor day but if I get out early enough I can be into Canada within 1/2 hour. Doc is in Buffalo. I know Sandy says she uses the Peace Bridge as it seems faster and easier. If that is so then I can be to the Peace Bridge in 15 min from doc's office.
I am assuming we are meeting in Canada but that has yet to be determined so I guess I will wait to see.

I went back to my messages again and nothing from K9 so I am presuming it was sent during the glitches. That is the 3rd message I was supposed to receive in zmail but nada.

oooooooooo I hope I can make it I would LOVE to meet you.

my email is cmcqb at hotmail .com Perhaps that is better to get info. I will be away from the comouter tomorrow afternoon until Monday unless I can get to the library. Mike and I are gathering more apples and pears at our property in the southern tier and minimal internet connection there. I can check my email on the phone though icon_smile.gif

Well off I go, bedtime. Been cooking all day for church then home canning maters, applesauce and pearsauce. I am one tired mama here.

Hi Gals, good to see you here, got a notification so thought there may be an update on the 20th. Would love if you could make it Connie. Should we think of a central location for all of us to meet?

    Hi all-

Not sure if this is going to post as the whole screen is wacky. Took 4 tries to get on Food. I will keep checking to see where meet is and what time. If I can get there I will be there.

Hi ladies! Just a thought, if Connie is trying to make it to our lunch date and she is crossing near Fort Erie, maybe St. Catharines would be a good half way point for everyone? I'm not overly familiar with St. Catharines and I hate their one way streets all over the city, but maybe we can find something just off the highway.

It would be fabulous if Connie can make it, I have not had the honour of meeting her yet but we have "chatted" many times! icon_biggrin.gif

If everyone is agreeable to St Catharines, then I can suggest a few places.

    Good morning!
I just popped in to see if we were all still on for Friday.
I am glad that Lambkins got my zmail but bummed she can't make it. Oh well.. there will be another time.

Also, so sorry for the misunderstanding Chef 1~Connie. It was Connie Cooks that I had messaged icon_redface.gif

Anyway - connie cooks can't make it because she has to work that day icon_sad.gif

St. Catherines sounds like a great place for you guys to meet up as your travel time will be between 25 - 45 minutes. Unfortunately it will increase my travel time up to 2hr and 10 minutes each way. I'd love to see you all and would do the trek for a days outing at some time but it is a heck of a long way for lunch! My fault I know as I am the one who chose to move to the boonies. icon_lol.gif

I think I will have to pass this time icon_sad.gif

Ack! St. Catharines was just a suggestion and I didn't even think about it adding to your travel time too! Sorry about that!

We need to get on this stat and find out who is coming FOR SURE and decide what the best location is to meet then.

I'll check with Nora Marie to see if she is still up for it. If you are reading this post and want to come, please check in here with a post. icon_biggrin.gif

(That would include you K9, if you'll come to Burlington for the day, we can go back there again). I know it is more likely you'll go here since your mom is there. We soooo want you to come too.

If it can be Burlington or Hamilton I'm in. 1hr 30 minutes is doable - 2+ makes it tough with the dogs.
The last I spoke with Nora she was coming as was Sandy. Connie (cooks) can't and nor can Lambkins. I hope the other Connie can make it. I'd love to meet her.

Turtle Jacks is a good default location but we might be able to get in to West Plains if anyone wants to go there assuming Burlington. If Hamilton, someone else will have to make suggestions because it's probably been 15 years since I was there on a regular basis. icon_smile.gif

BTW... I don't usually visit my Mum when I come in to see you guys so it doesn't matter to me if it is Hamilton or Burlington.

I'll be seeing her tomorrow or Wednesday as she is leaving for a vacation Monday. AND IS NOT TAKING ME! Imagine.

    Hi ladies.

Let's discuss this. K9 scheduled the luncheon so go where it is good for her. Remember I have a docs appt that day. St Catherines is good but for K-9 it is not so plan around her and I will make the next one. Hamilton or Burlington is about an hour 45 min trip so if docs goes over I would never make it anyway.

Have a blast take lots of pics and I will try to plan for the next one. Please don't let my attending mess up your schedules.\\Hugs

mums we WILL meet up for sure!

Connie - We will miss you, but you are right that it would take you at least 1 hr and 45 min and that doesn't include the wait at the border which is anyone's guess. The next time we plan a lunch, we'll do it WAY in advance so others can jump on board if they like and we'll be sure to tell you and your "border jumping" friends who may want to come.

K9 - is West Plains the restaurant with the patio that you mentioned before as a possible meeting spot? I don't know Burlington well and to tell you the truth I can't think of anything stunning in Hamilton so it doesn't matter to me where we go. But I do think we should keep it simple for out of towners so something not too far off the beaten path. I'll ask some friends and see if I get any good ideas from them. I messaged Nora earlier, so hopefully she will pop in with her 2 cents.

By the way, West Plains sounds easy enough to get to as well.

First of all, Connie, I would have loved to have met you! Next time for sure as if necessary I can arrange to stay overnight at my Mums place. Right now things are tougher with the dogs because DH has a post retirement job in Milton which is another 1 1/2 hours from here and he typically 'works' 12 hour days. They are shortening with the change of seasons and by the end of October he will be unemployed. How long he stays that way is anyone's guess icon_smile.gif I say 'works' because he is a golf freak and works at a golf range where he seems to spend most of his day watching sports on TV or hitting balls on the range. Perfect for retirement!!

Mums. West Plains isn't always easy to get in to as it is small but they do have very good food as a rule. I couldn't get us in there last time and it may be dicey now too. If you like I can go ahead and make reservations that we can always cancel or adjust later. If Nora has a place in mind in Hamilton or if Sandy knows of some I am totally open. They take about the same amount of time for me. I'm just happy to see you all.

I can also check with Mum tomorrow in term of restaurants. She and her gal pals get out quite a bit in case every one is tired of Turtle Jacks..
