We have my uncles 91st birthday tomorrow. Then we will duck out early to head to Hamilton. I am going to get to go to my first Rush concert icon_rolleyes.gif icon_wink.gif icon_biggrin.gif Paul's friend who usually goes with him is in Calgary so I am the back up lol.
The best part about it is that we are going to go to Mother's Pizza first. Not sure if you remember the restaurant? Many years ago they were a chain of restaurants that served awesome pizza & pasta, and played the old black and white moves on tvs around the restaurant. They recently opened one in Hamilton and from the reviews on facebook its doing really well.
Sunday is housework, laundry and baseball game for Jordan.

Hi y'all. Tiggrr - the opening of the Mother's restaurant has been a major hit. Just a warning....prepare to wait at least 45min-1hr for a table (from what I have heard). I haven't made it there yet, but I have heard it is worth the wait. I'd like to see Rush play...brings back memories of grade 9/10. Loved the Tom Sawyer album, my favourite song on that album was "Red Barchetta" and my girlfriends and I would play that and Tom Sawyer over and over and over....

K9 - Sounds like fun going to that motorcycle festival. It sounds similar to the Port Dover events when zillions of mc riders descend upon that tiny town. I'd like to see that Amish market you mentioned too.

I washed my car this afternoon so it can rain now! I even vacuumed it out and it looks just lovely! My DH is out on the boat. He got up at 6:30 to go (thus you see why I am not on the boat) Actually I had to get my haircut at 10am too. I stopped at Fortino's and bought a nice steak and some lobster tails for dinner. I was feeling extravagant apparently!

We are just starting two weeks of holidays so I may not be around the site too much. Unless it rains, then I'll be on here a lot. The long range forecast for the next 2 weeks is mostly rain! Losers!

We were actually seated right away but then we arrived at 5pm. Lucked out I guess. Food was great. It was a tad too warm in the restaurant though which Paul couldn't handle. Laurel & Hardy were playing on the one huge flat screen TV but they could really have used a couple more tvs so all could see and turned the new age music down if they want you to reminisce about the way things once were.

Hi guys. With the move I've been just too busy (and disorganized) to pop in.

Thought I would rectify that today and see how everyone is doing.

Hi everyone, I've been away for a bit and just come back to see that crap has hit the fan again! WTH? icon_eek.gif I'll never understand why people can't act like adults and just agree to disagree. Really, in the big scheme of things is it that important if someone doesn't share your opinion? I sure hope that this latest incident doesn't result in a mass exodus again, there's too many good people on here to lose.

On to other things...man is it hot here today. It is just after 11:00am and my thermometer reads 40 degrees - YIKES! Sounds like a pool day and then back in to air conditioning. My head is starting to pound already. Hope you are all doing well and enjoying your summer!

Another scorcher today! We went to St. Catharines today to shop at the Pen Centre. Haven't been there in quite some time so it was nice for a change. My DD was not impressed, however, as there is no "Forever 21" or "Pink". Tough life!

My sister and her DH met us for coffee so that was a nice visit. Even though my sister lives in St. Catharines we don't manage to see each other more than 4 or 5 times a year. How pathetic is that? You'd think we had miles and miles between us. We need to make a better effort to see each other more often.

    Sounds like a fun day!
Funny how it is with distance and maintaining relationships.
When I lived in Milton my youngest (and don't tell) and favourite brother lived in Acton 20 minutes away. In the 20+ years I was there, not counting Easter, Christmas etc. I doubt I saw him more than 3 times a year.

I think that what happens is that when someone lives quite far away you know it is a trek and make plans to visit. When you are close you keep thinking..'maybe next week'.

    Plans are good. icon_smile.gif

So is your family vacation over this weekend?

Yes, our holidays are done until late August when DH has another 2 wks.
We plan to go to Gananoque with the boat to tour the 1,000 islands, then to his parent's place which is near Belleville. We have to get back sooner than planned though, due to my son's work schedule. I don't mind really as I am a "home body" anyways. When I am away I sit and think about things I could be/should be doing at home. If I could learn to sit still I'd be doing something.

We had quite the rain storm here tonight over the dinner hour. The sky got so black that my outdoor solar lights came on. Everything got a good soaking and now the air is much fresher and about 5 degrees cooler. Gotta love that after this heat wave!

    Have a nice night everyone!

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying this cooler weather even if it does feel like fall here in Southern Ontario.

I just finished a weekend of entertaining the in-laws, playing Martha Stewart and waiting on everyone hand and foot. Being Martha actually sucks eggs! She can keep her job. No, I'm kidding it was actually a nice weekend but I am tired out.

So my poor little beagle has this disgusting wart thing on her hind leg and it keeps growing. She was at the vet about 2 weeks ago for a check up, needles etc, but they were not concerned about it, (which is a good thing because it already cost me $300 for everything else). The problem is that the dog has caught the wart/bump on something and torn it open so now it keeps seeping blood. We put some gauze on it and cut the foot out of a baby sock, and wound surgical tape on it. She is not happy with that! She keeps trying to get at it. If I take off the wrappings she will bleed on my rugs and possibly keep cutting it open. Not sure what else I can do, but wondered about that liquid bandage stuff. Has anyone ever tried that, and if so, do you think it would work in this case? Hope I haven't grossed you all out.

    Hi guys!
Mums, the liquid bandaid might work but I think she is just as likely to like it off. icon_confused.gif As your post is a few days old she is probably just fine by now.

Still unpacking, still exploring the new area and still finding new sources of awesome, fresh food.
The weather is unsettled as it is in most of SO this month. The day will be gorgeous and then late afternoon cloud over, blow a lot, rain some and then clear up... or not. icon_smile.gif Right now it is a beautiful 24C with very little humidity. Blue skies, white clouds. Not looking at any rain until maybe Wednesday and then very little. Perfect summer weather.

There are a bunch of festivities going on at Port Burwell (5 mins or less away) this holiday weekend but today is a do a little, rest a little kind of day. Don works tomorrow but I hope he is back in time and feels inclined to hit the beach tomorrow night. There are live bands and what I am told is an amazing fireworks display. I'm going even if I have to leave him a sandwich or a cold plate. icon_cool.gif

That sounds like fun! I love the free music festivals and browsing at the crafts.

Tomorrow I am returning to the Aberfoyle Antique market that I told you all about a few weeks ago. We had so much fun nosing around there. There is so much to see, it acutally takes a good 4 hours just to get through the stalls.

As you said, the weather has been cooler so it is beautiful for walking at an outdoor market and I really don't mind the cooler weather.

Have a great looooonggg weekend everyone!
