My Baltimore Orioles and Orchard Orioles are back for the summer, also a hummingbird. Guess I better stock up on grape jelly. I know - I need to get a life, but love watching those beautiful birds.

I think you HAVE a very nice life. At the end of the day it's the small things like your Orioles and the little hummingbird that make life sweet. icon_smile.gif

I am fortunate to live in South Florida where we have birds all year. We have had a lot of cardinals lately and we have tons of blue jays. I would miss the birds if we didn't have them all year. When my grand daughter says grace before meals, one of the things she is thankful for is the "birds that sing."

Thanks K9 - I do love my life, but know it would be pretty boring to some people. I took Zoey on a leash (we now have a nest of bald Eagles about 1/4 mile away, for which Zoey would be a snack besides the hawks) and Molly - no leash outside with me while I weeded. Molly did so well. She wandered around and always came back to me when she would get a little far away without me even having to call her. She amazes me more every day.

I hear you about the birds. I was out back this afternoon. Our nesting Robin flew off after she was called by her mate-up popped 3 little heads-so cute!

Baby birds are so cute. We have a pair of sparrows that nest in a birdhouse just outside my kitchen window. Love watching them stick their little heads out and especially when mom and dad come to feed them.

I'm looking forward to our pair of mourning doves bringing their little one around. They had a heck of a time booting the last one out-LOL!

We love our birds too Connie. We play a game...who can name that bird call first. While we're outside we vie to be the first one to hear the titmouse, cardinals, red bellied woodpeckers off in the distance, headed to the feeders.
I've had the occasional indigo bunting this year too...one of my favorite birds.
I have to say my favorite birds by far, are a pair of pileated woodpeckers that have graced our woods with their presence. This year we've only heard them and seen them zooming from tree to tree. Awesome birds!
I'm not sure if this photo op will ever happen again, but it is one of my favorite wildlife photos.

Great pic Deely. I love woodpeckers and they aren't that common in
Australia. I used to hear them all the time in Nebraska.

But we do have kookaburras. A while back when I was at the coast, two
came to visit. I think they are the ones the neighbours are cross with
because they've been pecking away at window frames. icon_evil.gif

But they just posed for me.

Really cool photo, Leggy Peggy! I have researched those birds...never knew they existed before coming here. icon_cool.gif
