Can I leave the pickles whole? Will they still turn out?
I'd rather have whole pickles. Any advice would help. Thank you.

I think you should probably look for another "refrigerator pickle" recipe that uses whole pickles. I suspect if you leave the cucumbers whole instead of slicing into quarters/spears the center of the cucumbers will not cure/pickle properly. icon_confused.gif

We have a Canning, Preserving and Dehydrating forum. I'm sure the members there will be able to give you more help with pickling. icon_smile.gif

I have a similar recipe, but I make a mix with water, vinegar, sugar; and I use pickling spice in my pickles. I do use whole pickles and they are fine. I try to use small pickles; but, it does work. But I do have a bit stronger solution for the brine; and the pickling spices.

Honestly, I prefer to cut mine in half for the best results.

I personally have been making these just for me icon_smile.gif for about 4 Summers now.

These are whole and so, so addicting in the middle of a cold Winter icon_smile.gif

I can about a dozen jars - no one else likes them.

btw, they tended to taste very clovey, so I pick out about 2/3's of the cloves frm the pickling mix and add in extra garlic..

MMM, you will NOT be sorry if you love half sours!
