SIL bought a basic KA stand mixer several years ago and was RAVING about it. First thought... don't do a lot of BAKING, so WHY spend that kinda money? She FORCED me to take hers home one Thanksgiving... with strict ordered to bring it back the following weekend.

My "baking" is generally... holiday cookies. When I cranked out batches of dough for 4-5 different cookies, with butter right outta fridge... I was SOLD! Gifted self with one on way home from returning hers.

A few years ago, found a "vintage" (faded yellow) KA stand mixer at Good Will. Larger capacity, crank up/down bowl, whisk/dough hook/paddle... ran just fine! And only $19.99... just could NOT pass... even though I had a much newer model!

Cleaned it up well, taped everything off and used flat-black spray paint (for outdoor grill??) and spiffied it up. Found a second bowl at a thrift store, too.

Often do pizza on weekends... dough is a "dump" recipe... just let the work horse do its THANG!!

What a great find, and I'd never thought of painting it to make it look fresher. Good job. I think most of us where surprised at just how many things our loved KA will do icon_wink.gif

My KA will be a permanent fixture on my counter top even if I don't use it. It is too heavy to lift up and down. The slicer came in today, grinder didn't, hope it arrives tomorrow because that was what I was most interested in.

Oh my, congratulation Jacqueline! I have one of those and I know you'll never regret buying that. Before I was really interested in small stand mixers. KitchenAid has always been my favorite but I do not know if they make a small version.
