Pamper Your Mom On Mother's Day
Mon Apr 29, 2013 6:12 pmForum Host
Before the picnic ~
------- Before the barbecue ~
-------------------- Before the backyard cook-out ~
~ Pamper your mother with a luxurious, relaxing spa day at home on Mother’s Day.
~ Present your mother with a gift basket of special bath and beauty products that you’ve made yourself. She’ll be thrilled with the wonderful gifts, and she’ll be twice as proud that you made them yourself. And you'll find dozens and dozens of recipes for bath and beauty products posted right here on the food .com website
Start with a theme. Pick your mom’s favorite scent or her favorite color, and start building around it, matching the color or scent theme as much as possible.
Select a basket, box or other study container with a whimsical or colorful pattern. The best containers are those that mom can use later to hold her favorite beauty accessories, scarves or craft suppies, or in the kitchen to hold her favorite pot holders, or even in the garage to store gardening tools. Or you might use a jumbo ceramic tea cup found in your local gardening center, which she can use as a flower or herb pot.
Line the basket or gift box with a new bath towel in your mom’s favorite color, or one with a pretty floral or spring pattern. Then start filling the basket with all of her favorite bath products. Your mom will appreciate the “me” time, and she’ll love the effort you put forth to create a special Mother’s Day gift, made especially for her.
If you make the bath products yourself, you’ll find assorted containers in all sizes, shapes and colors at most arts & crafts shops. Add your own label, and you’re set to go. Be sure to include instructions on how much of each bath/beauty product is appropriate for each application or each luxurious, relaxing soak in the tub.
You can supplement your gift basket with additional bath and beauty products, such as:
~ Spa slippers
~ Loofah or bath puff
~ Massage brushes
~ Shower cap
~ Plush bath pillow
~ Hair brush and comb set
~ Make-up brushes
~ Manicure or pedicure accessories
~ Pumpice stone
~ Scented candle (for aromatherapy)
For an extra special presentation, place the filled gift basket inside a cellophane gift bag, and the ends of the cellophane bag at the top. Then tie a colorful ribbon around the top, and secure the knot with with a pretty bow. And you’ll have a wonderful Mother’s Day gift for your special mother that she’ll never forget.
Many homemade bath and beauty items can be made from common pantry ingredients, or sometimes a minimal investment in additional items are all you need in order to make such things as:
Bath salts or bath bombs
Beauty bars and hand soap
Body lotions, creams and gels
Facial toners and moisturizers
Hair care products
Manicure and pedicure scrubs and lotions
Below, I have listed some of the top recipes posted to this site for a variety of different bath and beauty products that you might want to include in a Mother’s Day gift basket for your mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor, friend or any special woman in your life.
I hope you give some a try. And please be sure to review any of these recipes that you try, and include a photo if possible.
