I contacted Kraft and they refuse to release the original recipe irregardless of the fact that they stopped making it over 12 years ago. I've come close on some of my own variations but I'm hoping someone has nailed it.

I'm surprised they aren't selling it,, given all the buffalo wings joints that have popped up.

Did you see this on their site, http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/shake-n-bake-e-z-115301.aspx

I've been on their website and none of the recipes or the new crispy version is anything like the original

Why don't you just bake, (or deep fry), your wings and make up some Buffalo sauce, toss and serve with the dip. If you want the recipe I can give it to you. I think you would enjoy it, cheaper and tastier. [/img]

If you never tried the original version of Shake 'n Bake Buffalo Wings, than you will never understand the texture and taste I am looking for.

The closest I have been able to come to it is to use the Shake 'n Bake Barbeque version and add chipotle seasoning and brown sugar splenda. It is very close but my husband doesn't like the sweet flavor from the bbq. I tried cutting back on the splenda and even increasing the chipotle, he still says the bbq flavor kills it for him.

According to Foodfacts.com, the ingredients are: maltodextrin (a filler), sugar, salt, modified food starch, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil, garlic, paprika, citric acid (less than 22 %), spices, onion, vinegar, beet powder, caramel coloring, flavors, soy sauce, and sodium silico aluminate (anti-caking agent).

They are listed in order of volume, so if you start with sugar, salt, and fat, then add the flavoring and coloring agents you should be just about there. You're on your own for "flavorings" and "spices", but cayenne is likely. Citric acid is available in drugstores and the canning section, or you could just use instant lemonade powder.
