With all the tragedy in the world, I thought it would be nice to have a positive topic too. Sometimes tragedy, or illness brings us to a place of Thankfulness. Sometimes we don't need a reason at all...
A few weeks ago my FIL (who has fought lung cancer late stage 3, twice) lymph node cancer, fighting with COPD, emphsysema, chronic bronchitis, ended up in the hospital with Pneumonia. For a couple days out of the 9 he was there, we thought we were going to lose him. Anyways, long story short, Yesterday, we find out he now has shingles. He is a fighter, and God willing will get throught this too...but...

It has made me grateful, for being able to assist where I can, for waking to another day. For the loving relationships both on and offline.
For love, for health. For the roof over my head, for the ability to hear birds singing, for a cuddle with my Boys, for having running water (i know it sounded funny to me too, but I am just in a thankful way these days)....

What is something you are grateful for?

I'm grateful for many, many things. Everything you have listed. I, too, feel blessed beyond words most days. I grumble a lot about things, but in the end, I'm grateful to be able to do so. Great topic!!

I try to remind myself everyday of the things that I am grateful for that are so often taken for granted. Running through my mental list each morning sets me up for a better day. Thanks for this thread!

I am grateful for the love and support of family and friends that I feel everyday. I truly never feel as though I walk alone.

I am grateful for my dogs for making me laugh and giving me a reason to get out of bed on those days when I just don't want to engage with the world.

I am grateful for the clothes on my back, the roof over my head, clean water and the food in my fridge and pantry. So many people have little or none.
I am grateful for having 'enough'.

I'm also grateful for my health - it could be much better but every day that I wake up is another opportunity to improve.

I am grateful for so many things.

To be able to love and be loved.
    Sloppy wet stolen doggie kisses.
Little green shoots that tell me that the earth is waking from her slumber.
Those stupid birds that start chirping at 4:30 in the morning, as well as the ability to "get over it".
    To learn and share knowledge.
My family and friends, friends who are family.
Knowing that if I can't make it better I will get through it.

I am grateful that we are a healthy family with few medical worries.
I have a loving husband, great kids, a great extended family that gets along quite well.
We have a roof over our heads, food in our bellies and we are warm and dry.
We are not rich, we are not poor. We have what we need to live a happy life but most importantly, we have each other.
    Life is good.

I am grateful for family and friends, my health, having enough, and laughing.
I am lucky to have lots of people including my cat who can make me laugh.

This is an excellent topic to make us put things in perspective.

I love to pontificate, and I'm aware that that can be tedious, and I sometimes amuse myself by the blather. Then, I look at people who are not able to open their big yaps at all, but they have learned to accept their situations. I have the freedom to stand on a soapbox, but many in this world have had to learn the lessons of Mother Teresa and Victor Frankl in that of "acceptance", and they must be careful what they say or do.

I'm in Japan right now, a wonderful and prosperous country. In a few days, I'll be back in China and will see first hand yet again the effects of communism. I live in the free world, and for that I am extremely grateful.

I am blessed to have my family, loving friends in several countries, and a great little church. I am extremely grateful, because nothing is more important to me than people. Yes, I like animals, but I am not particularly interested in having another pet. Not now, anyway.

I loathe and despise any kind of yard work, and tending little things that grow. Ye,t I appreciate the beauty my daughter creates in her landscaping, and my son-in-law's rose garden.

I dislike crafts as much as yard work, even though I'm pretty good in many, But I appreciate the efforts of others to make beautiful things that I can enjoy. What talent!

My talents are in writing and editing, and the healing arts. I can't imagine life without my freedom to write, edit, travel, help others and attend the conferences I enjoy..Life is good!

So... I believe diversity is what makes the world go 'round. I am extremely grateful for my being able to pursue those things I need and enjoy, and to me it is vital for society to work together to create a world of peace. I am grateful that we have that chance.

I started a Gratitude Journal this year. Every day I write down three things I am Thankful & Grateful for. The small things in life, are truly the large things, in my humble opinion.

Thank you everyone, for sharing your gratitudes, it makes my heart happy to read, and hope it does yours too.

Be thankful for everyday. Last year I was very sick and almost didn't make it. And thru it all I was still thankful because there were some who had it worse. (I needed 9 blood transfusions, I had a major GI bleed, my hemoglobin dropped to 4.5 and I needed surgery in a major medical school hospital 75 miles from home)
Today everything is fine. In the hospital, my roommate had cancer, and things did not look good for her. NO MATTER how bad you have it, there is always someone who is worse.
Everyday is a gift from God, that is why they call it the present.

I’m grateful that we all have our health in my family. I’m grateful that I have a best friend and husband rolled up into one. I’m grateful that my daughter is willing to hang out in bed with me and watch TV for a while when my hubby is out of town
(it is the little things, isn’t it?) I’m grateful for the fact that we can put food on the table, clothes on our backs and have a roof over our head, because there are so many who can’t say the same…

I try never to wake up without giving thanks to the good things my day will bring no matter how small. I find that is what gets me thru the worst of things. I feel for those in the hardest hit areas at this time all the way from the marathons, to Texas to the flooding..it's been a roller coaster of things. Let's hope we find a rainbow to brighten some of this up for us.

There are things that I"m not grateful for but at the same time i have a lot to be grateful for as well.

We or rather I am lucky in so many ways. I count my blessing every day and hope that the adverse things in my life will fade away. I have 2 daughters who are healthy 1 grand son and 3 grand daughters all fit and well - I am grateful
