my husband hated it, but I got it from my dad.......I soak matzo under the tap..........they get a little soggy but there's 100% less crumbs. I just like it like that, then you put cream cheese and jam!

yes! mom would buy the roll of Hebrew Nat'l salami and fry in a pan, then add scrambled eggs and eat it right out of the pan!!

I just use fat free sour cream now.

yeah, mac n cheese w/fried dover sole icon_smile.gif

HATED mom's dried out liver! yeck! always had to hide it under mounds of mashed pot's (no wonder again I'm overweight icon_smile.gif ) .. later, I learned somewhere to flour it then fry and don't cook all the way.. much palatable!

Once I put liver into the crock w/cream of celery (yeck! did we really stock that in our house?!!) and mom LOVED IT!

No, but mom always used matzo meal instead of bread crumbs in her burgers and meatballs.

    I thought that was British.

Oh yeah. With a dollop of deli mustard.

    Oh yes.

    Indeed

Dad banned it from our house when I was about 6 or 7, because Mom always burned it to shoe leather. He would only eat it if his mother made it for him. I didn't object; I hated it.

    Never heard of this.

    Strawberries or peaches, usually.

Rice pudding with milk, yes but it was not hard.
Gr. meat was made into meatballs or meatloaf with matzo meal as filler. Never had mac n cheese as a child.
LOVED noodles w/ pot cheese and lots of black pepper
Salami and eggs was a fav with my father, not me. My son just made some for the G-kids this morning.
Wooden bowl was used for chopping hard cooked eggs and onions.
    Parents used only butter
Egg Salad! Lots then but every now and then today.
LOVED liver and onions but not Moms'. As a young teenager, my Mom would devein the liver and I would cook it. Yum!! Also, my brother and I would fight every wkend over the fresh eggs inside the roasting chicken.
What the heck is Chinese candy?
    No brownies...mom never baked.
Loved the tuna on matzo. Never was soggy...maybe it was how my father made it.
Sour cream w/ bananas was a family fav but not so much for my. I loved my sour cream with hot white potatoes.

    Great thread Amber.

I soak my matzo like that before I mix it with eggs to make matzo brei or matzo kugel. For matzo brei, it's just egg, matzo, salt and pepper, and fried in schmaltz (if I have any). For kugel, I add sugar, cinnamon, raisins, diced apple and bake in a dish.
