What form will this assistance take? Is is a food pantry? A meal delivery program? a meal program in a particular place? Staffed by volunteers? Will any of them BE seniors themselves?

I donate $$ to an organization that feeds seniors over the holidays.

I think the name is Golden Years, so something along those lines might be nice.

    Still thinking........

We are currently out of our garage icon_smile.gif Hoping to have a permanent location soon (warehouse with intake offices). We are a food pantry. We wont be delivering meals but food (Cereal, Canned Goods, Produce, Toiletries). We are staffed by volunteers - it has primarily been my family up until now but once we receive our non profit status, we will reach out to our church members and community. Trying to make contact with our local farmers now. My husband and I have been funding our efforts. My mother lives in a Low Income Senior Apartment Complex and we know her struggles but a couple months ago, I went to the gas station. There was a elderly lady there going through the trash cans for bottles and cans and I asked her if she was doing this to make money to buy food - she said yes, food and pay for her medications. It broke my heart - I gave her $20. and she gave me the biggest hug ever. Come to find out, the woman was my mothers next door neighbor. That had such an impact on me. We help my mother financially - if not, that could have been her. It is very sad - this should be the golden years for these people and they are struggling to eat!!

I think we are leaning towards "Senior Food Assistance Pantry". Husband doesnt want anything "cutsie". Thinks we should be "professional and to the point". ????? icon_rolleyes.gif We like Senior Food Assistance Program better, it rolls off the tongue easier. But you are right, we are a pantry, it should be in our name somewhere so it doesnt leave people wondering "what kind of a program are you?"

I agree with your husband. A cutsie wootsie name might go right over the heads of the people you are trying to service. It needs to be to the point and easily understandable.

Silver Senior's Food Pantry? Something along those lines I think everyone can understand the jest of the cause.

    God bless you.
