    FAQs for Food.com!

    Hello and welcome !

    Old and new members, we know you may have some questions on where to find things now -- so to help out, we've prepped this list of FAQs. If you have more questions, let us know and we'll update this list.


    Do I need to create a new account and password for Food.com?
    No! You can sign in to Food.com with your old Recipezaar information -- just use the same email address and password. If you are having trouble getting in to the site, please use this Contact Us form and fill in your question in the "Other Inquiries" text boxes and click submit. This sends us an email.

    DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT. We will help you get access to your old account, which will have all your old recipes, cookbooks, reviews, photos, etc. still in it.


    All my saved recipes, cookbooks, reviews DISAPPEARED! What do I do?
    Don't panic! It may be that you've accidentally created a new account or signed into an old, second account you didn't know you had. Please use this Contact Us form, tell us what you are or aren't seeing, what browser you're using, and any information about the account(s) you're trying to access. Add this info in the text boxes there and then click submit. This sends us an email. For your safety and privacy, DO NOT POST that information in the forums. We will get back to you as soon as possible with help for getting back into your account.


    Where can I find my private/public recipes, reviews, recipe photos, etc. now?
    To make your recipes, cookbooks and menus easier to find, we've consolidated all your stuff into a new "My Food.com" menu, which is accessible from the drop-down menu next to your username in the top corner of every page. You'll be able to scroll through all of your cookbooks and menus, and quickly access recipes, reviews, menus, photos and more from that one centralized spot. :


    To visit the forums or find favorite topics, roll your mouse cursor over the Talk & Tips tab and this flyout menu will open:


    If you think that some of your information is missing or incorrect, please Contact Us directly via this form with your question and we will investigate this with you via email.


    How do I print a recipe? Where is the Print Recipe button?
    We have moved the Print button on every recipe page to the right of the Ingredients List along with our Email and Share (Facebook, Twitter and Myspace) buttons:


    You DO NOT need to be logged in to print and use the new custom print settings. Our new custom print settings allow all users to decide what parts of the recipe (reviews, photos, private notes, nutrition info, etc) should be printed.

    NOTE: Please use this Print button on recipes and NOT your browser's File>Print function to get a recipe printout.

    Here is what the new Print Settings options look like -- just check and uncheck what you prefer, click the "Remember Settings" option and your selections will carry over to all recipe printouts until you update them again:



    Where is the recipe's ID #, description and nutrition information? I don't see them where they used to be!
    To help streamline individual recipe pages, we have listed the recipe's ID # below the recipe title. We include the recipe's ID number, the name of the original chef who submitted it and the recipe categories. You can access information on the original chef through the drop-down menu by hovering your mouse over their name. You can also get a recipe's ID number by looking at the last series of digits in the URL.






    How can I rate/review a recipe or update my previous review?
    There are two places on a recipe's page to click to submit a rating/review. See the links circled below:


    If you'd like to edit/update a review you've already submitted, be sure you are LOGGED IN and then click on the RATINGS & REVIEWS tab on a recipe's page. You will see the option to edit/re-submit your existing review. As always, when you submit a review or an update to a review, it goes into our queue for publishing. It may take up to 48 hours (or longer if it's a holiday or weekend) to show up on the recipe and in your reviews list.

    NOTE ABOUT REVIEWS: To help improve page load performance, we have moved the reviews to the bottom of the recipe's directions and you can also access them by clicking the "Ratings & Reviews" tab at the top below the recipe title. If you've reviewed the recipe, your review will show up first when you are logged in.


    How do I submit a correction or edit to a recipe?
    As before, you can submit corrections and changes to your own recipes or edit others' recipes for typos or missing information. To do that, click the "Submit a correction" link to the right of the recipe's directions:


    Once you submit a correction, it goes into our queue for review and publishing. It may take up to 48 hours (or longer if it's a holiday or weekend) for the changes to show up on the recipe. There is no need to submit the correction multiple times if you do not see it immediately.


    Where do I go to submit a new public/private recipe?
    First, please type the name of your recipe into the search box at the top of the page to make sure that it's not already in the database. The site's database is approaching 1/2 million recipes and removal of duplicates is an ongoing process. When you're ready to enter your recipe, from the drop down next to your username in the bottom right hand corner of the fly out is a button to Submit a Recipe. Click to Submit a Recipe and follow the steps. NOTE: All members are now able to publish private recipes as well as public ones.





    I submitted a recipe, review, photo, etc. a few days ago but it still hasn't been published. Did it get lost?
    Nope! Not lost -- we're still working through the submissions everyone made over the past two weeks and hope to be caught up soon. Don't resubmit the recipe as that will just drop it to the end of our queue. Wait a few more days and you should receive a notice that it's been published.


    Where is the Recipe Sifter and how does it work?
    On Food.com, the Recipe Sifter is located under Top Recipes. As you'll see below, when you click Recipe Sifter, it opens up a whole tool that pushes down the top of the site. Then you can navigate through the different categories (or search for specific ingredients).






    To make selections and narrow your recipe search, check off (include) or cross out (exclude) categories or ingredients or dietary parameters you do or don't want. Then you click the "Get XXX Recipes" button on the right (which will update with the total recipes that match) and it refreshes the page with your results.


    How do I search for an individual member, ingredients, etc? Is the search box only for searching recipes?
    Nope! You can search and then select whether you want to search recipes, cookbooks, menus, ingredients, etc: on the Results Page








    I am a premium member -- why am I seeing advertisements?!
    As part of our site-wide changes, we have opened up all previously premium member-only features to every registered member FOR FREE! To help pay the bills, we now have to display advertising to every member. If you have any questions or complaints about advertisements you see, please Contact Us directly.


    I found an old reference to Recipezaar, a dead link or I think this is a bug/glitch -- what do I do?
    Tell us about it! There's bound to be a bug or two flying around here and we want to quash it. If you discover something that's not working right or seems off, report it to us in our Customer Support forum. We may not be able to fix it ASAP, but we will add it to our list for review and correction.

    I just read through these FAQs. I noticed the 14 March date and missed seeing that it was posted a year ago and not yesterday.

    Anyway, all these will need to be updated when the new folder system starts later this month.
    Also, the very last paragraph above refers and links to a Known Bug List.

    Thanks for pointing out, Peggy. We are aware and will change once we get screenshots. The Known Bug List will not be updated. We now have the Fixed and Open Issues sticky for that.
