This kitchen needs to be gutted. I must have granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances.

This carpet is disgusting. It will have to be replaced with wood flooring.

I really need a bigger master bath.

This walk in closet is only big enough for my clothes. Don't know/care where DH will put his clothes.

Can you tell I watch way too many episodes of House Hunters?

It doesn't matter that they are brand new.. I cannot live with white (or cherry, or walnut) kitchen cabinets

Well, I've had an idea ...when K9 finally picks a house we shall HDTV it .....FOOD>COM style. I'll rent a huge truck (think semi) & we will all show up sporting toolbelts, power tools, & yes of course a backhoe to tackle that not so perfect yard.
She'll have the house of her dreams!

And...lots of great food since we all can cook.

I wasn't getting notifications.... on my own thread yet. There ought to be a law.

Well it's clear that we all prefer the buying to the selling process.
Don decided yesterday that this was the perfect time to paint the concrete walls going down to the basement. Say what??? We have chimney issues, plumbing problems and electrical concerns and he really hates painting. I think this is head in the sand behaviour.

Monday morning we get a visit from the Electrical Safety Assurance people. We didn't see any point getting too involved with an electrician until a the certifying body told us what the issues are. It's good timing though as the building inspection will be later the same day so we will have all sorts of information prior to the renegotiating process.

I think its a wonderful idea for you all to come on up and help out. I'll be hanging with Chicago at the bar while you all determine what needs doing and getting it done.

Just so you know... I mostly want to kick these House Hunter people in the butt. Our selling agent used the term 'very 90's' for a kitchen we saw. I said 'Sarah, my kitchen is at least 50 years old - 90's would be a huge upgrade."

We are downsizing financially but want more space so that means we have to move at least an hour or 2 from where we are. We will not carry a mortgage and after fixing up our current home will not have a big budget. Many would call it a very small budget.

I have yet to see a very nice kitchen in a home within our range. I have no problem painting or re-staining cabinets and replacing linoleum (yes - some of them have that). I don't need a 'Master Bedroom Retreat'. Heck there are only 2 dogs to retreat from and we can crate those suckers.
I have a wish list and a 'I'll settle' list.

I'd like;
3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a dining room or dining area other than the kitchen,
a decent sized kitchen and a Family room on a 1 acre lot with no rear neighbours. A good view would be nice. Floor covering other than carpet would be super too.

I'll take;
2 bedrooms if the basement is finished, 1 1/2 baths or even one if there is room to have another put in. A functional kitchen and a separate dining area. I am not a tidy cook and I'd lose my appetite if I had to eat among the pots and pans.
A smaller lot if it backs on to green space, a park or a golf course. I don't need to own it - I just want the impression of room to roam. No rear neighbours and a good view.

I already know I will be painting almost every vertical surface and may have to spend a lifetime removing wallpaper.

We are seeing 3 houses next week...

1. It has a 1/3 acre lot backing on to a ravine. No rear neighbours!

2. 1/4d acre just a block from the first one but $25K more for a house with no Dining room


3. Don's fav but it's on a freaking highway!
1 acre lot backing on to a large pond and a gold course behind the pond.
It is $35K more than the first house

Great views on all three, but not sure if I'd like to live near a highway, but that's just me, or rather me with Zoey. I'd be afraid she would sneak out and get run over. Your dogs are so much better trained than mine, so wouldn't be a problem.
