As people commenting on the web site have said - any dog food can be recalled. Look at the recalls that happen with our our 'for human consumption' food.

I think it is very important to keep track of the recalls from any company that you purchase pet food from. A once in a blue moon recall isn't a huge big deal (except to the animals that might have been affected) but when we see companies like Hartz Mountain and others who routinely have their products recall how much smarts does it take to just stop buying the crap?

Google the brands you buy for recalls.

I feed a raw diet as many of you know. I am always aware that there is a possibility of tainted meat. I make sure I monitor my pets every time I thaw a new 'brick' of meat - they come in 5# slabs. If there is any upset I would refreeze the product and check with the company that produced it.

This all makes me so angry - our food, water and air has been so badly compromised that you wonder how far you have to go to get 'clean food'.

And if you do decide to do that....best to make the food yourself....

Oh I know that raw food can be recalled too. I'm not suggesting otherwise.
That's why each time I open a new package (5#'s) I watch the dogs for issues. I guess I was saying that when I feed my dogs chicken I know that it is 'chicken' not a blend of ingredients including 'mystery meat meal' etc. I get to add vegetables or what I choose to add and the veg are the ones we eat as well. Any problems it is easier for me to determine the source.

I am not suggesting that raw is the ONLY way to go. Just the way I am most comfortable feeding.

It's pretty awful when we can't trust something as basic as food whether for us or our furbabies isn't it? icon_sad.gif
