Good afternoon, Lori... and all fellow swappers. Sorry to have been quiet lately... small but heartbreaking family circumstance. I see you all have been chatting up a storm. I have been keeping in contact with Bblondie08 thru PM, and getting to learn what she likes regarding cookbooks.
This does seem like it's going to be great fun. I've already been searching out different avenues to go down as far as what to swap. Sounds like you all have too.

Rosie sorry to hear you have had some sad news in your family. I will say an extra prayer for all of you.
We do have a lovely group of ladies doing this swap!
Thank you Lori and pammyowl... but I don't want to mislead you. I didn't mean a "human" family member... my 4 lb Chinese Crested (hairless dog) "Tinkles" had a massive stroke yesterday morning, and nothing could be done for her. I simply held her and talked to her all day until she expired. I couldn't be on the computer. But "thank you" for your sentiments. My 10 lb "Lucy Lu" (also a Crested) is missing her terribly.
Well, enough of that. This is a happy and fun place to get my mind off of it. I've got the snow storm here tonight to distract me also, while hubby is out plowing.

Thanks, hun. It is like losing a family member (sort of). Yes... all you gals make me laugh and smile. I love meeting all you wonderful people and having a great time. Thank you all for that.

We love our pets like family members and it breaks our hearts when we have to say goodbye. Our Breah is going to be 10 this spring and I have heard the average life for a german shepherd is 12 - 14 years so she is getting even more spoiled in her senior years.
More hugs on the way Rosie!

Attention all swappers...
I did some shopping today for my partner, but couldn't find the cookbooks that I know she prefers, so I guessed on some (well, she said to surprise her). Upon returning home, we contacted each other and I told her that I found others that I thought she would like. She was happy (I love my swap buddy)!
Anyway, I made a few phone calls, and in a long, roundabout way, found exactly what she wanted. Yippee! It's a "local, hometown, church cookbook". Best of all... it's brand new and free of charge! (And it wasn't even from my own church). Yep!!! So that's going out as well as her surprises.
If anyone is looking for a possible resource... call your local library, then they will tell you to call the city Chamber of Commerce, then they will tell you to call a specific church, and with any luck at all, the church will say that "the publisher sent us too many copies" and you will get one 'free of charge' also!
Just a little FYI moment. Goodnight, fellow swappers.
-Rosie

I have to admit, I found one or two for myself, also, while I was out shopping for my partner. I also need to confess, one of the books going into the swap had a wonderful Metric Conversion chart on the back page:
mL = Dry Volume
mL = Fluid Ounces
grams = Weight
grams = Dry Volume
190*C = 375*F oven temp
3.5L / 33x23x5 cm = 13x9x2 baking pan
Etc, etc, etc...
I was half tempted to keep it for myself, but there were some things in the book that I know my partner will like (and I'm not referring to the recipes). LOL So I took the book to my neighbor (who has a copy machine), and he copied the last page of the book for me, so that I could have the chart also! I taped it to the inside of my kitchen cupboard door. Whenever I get time, I think I'll add it to the web for anyone to print out (I dislike having to run to the computer every time I'm trying to convert measurements from a recipe that isn't in US measurements... and I'm sure it's the same for others around the globe when trying to convert a US recipe into their metric system of weights, mass, volume, fluids etc).
Sorry, didn't mean to ramble on. Happy swapping, everyone.

Good Morning Bblondie!
I am sure Rosie will be tickled with what you picked out for her.
It's hard looking at all those cookbooks and not saying "one for me and one for her, one for me and one for her."

good idea Rosie! I had the neatest measuring cup that a dear friend sent me from Wales and it had all the different measures on it. Somehow it got broke and I was not very happy.
Never such a think as rambling! We enjoy chatting!

My swap partner is such doll and we have been keeping in touch regularly.
Will be heading to my very first chiropractor visit in a couple hours and I am getting so nervous. Not sure what he will do or how bad the pain will be when he is done. Has anyone had pain after going for a treatment?
